Polaris guy considering XUV as my next rig

Hey all,

I'm a rancher by trade that has JD equipment, but has run strictly Polaris products.... we do everything with our rangers, and they have actually replaced our ranch pickups.

My issue with them has been poor design. in 4 years I'll put on about 2500 hours, and the ranger isn't liking it. I've had problems with suspension bushings/ball joints wearing out, shock bumpstops getting knocked out, clutches going bad, vapor lock, fuel pump issues, wire harness problems and steering column splines stripped out.

I'm considering the deere because I think they look a little more stout, and maybe a little more geared toward work than play yet still can go over 40 mph?

I'm considering the 825i, but my local dealer has them priced at 15K for one without a cab, and about 20,000 for one with a cab.... currently, I can buy a Polaris for a lot less than that.

Is there anyone here who has put a lot of hours on the Deere and could tell me if these things are good for the long haul?

I'm not brand loyal, so I'm going to use whichever one keeps the most money in my pocket while getting the same job done.

70 amps

So my 2012 825I has a 70 amp alternator
I brought 1 of amp meters home to read how much amperage this gator has or (is using)
10 amps normal engine run with electronics
32 amps for EPS in a bind
15 amps for the cooling fan
12 amps for factory and aftermarket lighting
So realisticly...If I don't want my alternator to have a meltdown
in the middle of nowhere...Because I want to add more accessories
1 should have some extra storage....besides the Factory battery with
a 70 amp reserve?????

Any Ideas out there

Which tires?

I am wanting to put some taller tires on my RSX, mainly for the added ground clearance. We sometimes ride the river and trails so an extra 2" would be very nice. I really like the Outlaw2's and Silverback's but not sure how they would be in rocky areas or trails. I'm sure I will play in the mud some but not all the time.

RSX passenger seat

Just picked up our new RSX Trail on Sat. Very quick and rides great compared to our old TS model
I do have one question, the passenge seat will not tilt forward like the drivers seat. Could it be caught on something or is there a hidden release somewhere? The book just said to tilt it forward to get to the battery.
Thanks, Scott

RSX 850i is awesome

Three weeks ago i purchased a new RSX 850i sport in olive and have put about 6 hours and 75 miles on it so far without any problems. I live in south Texas so we have a limited amount of space to ride but the places we go are pretty diverse. It’s an awesome machine. Its fast, stable and comfortable. This is my first ATV/UTV and I can’t wait for the weekend to take it back out. I did some research into most of the competitors before i made my purchase. I drove the Can Am Commander 1000 xp and the Polaris Rzr 900 before i bought the gator and both were more expensive. The Polaris is an absolute no go for me but if it wasn’t for the outrageous price of the commander i would have definitely considered it. I may consider the Can Am Maverick later on but the Gator is a keeper for sure. I just wanted to share some of my limited experience with my new ride.

Hello

I just got me RSX sport package and it came with the suspension set in the middle. I believe it needs to be softer but I was curious if anyone else has found a good setup that they are happy with?

Anyone doing any Jumping?

First Impressions

Well this past weekend was my first outing with my new RSX ( I traded in my Rhino).

We went to Tall Pine ATV park here in WNY. It was muddy and I had some competition from a RZR. Anyway it was muddy and a lot of standing water. I was impressed as to just how much the RSX would go through. I was able to stay in 2wd most of the day only using 4wd when things looked hairy. At the end of the day I had enough confidence to go in a monster mud hole that had water up to my lap..... The Gator never hesitated pushing through the hole that was stopping a bunch of wheelers. I do want to loosen up the suspesion.

Yesterday I put it to work around the property. I used it to pick up debris pull a few stumps and pull a 1000lb lawn roller. NO problem!

Other that the ease of accessibility I have no complaints. (wiring up the winch and routing wiring was a pain with all the covers.)

So far I am very happy. More trials to come.:p
