Does Deere sell just the hood grille/emblem

$

I just bought a used 6x4 gator, and the grille/emblem (between the headlights) is missing from the front of the hood. I have seen a number of gators missing this part. The online Deere parts catalog does not show this as a separate item. Does anybody here know if it can be bought (without buying a complete new hood) or of a suitable replacement?

620i System diagnostic light

Howdy,
I have a 620i that is running like #$%* and the system diagnostic light (looks like open book with a wrench) is on. It has no power and barely stays running. I called the dealer and they said I need to bring it in to have the problem diagnosed (suprise-suprise). The manual says the system diagnostic light flashing indicates a sensor malfunction. Can anyone here help before I must spend the $300.00 estimated for diagnosis?

Thanks

John Deere Gator 4X2 rebuild

Howdy from Texas. I just joined the site today as I'm getting ready to rebuild my 2000 John Deere Gator 4X2.

First, here are some of the parts links that I'm using.

For Gator Parts:

John Deere - Parts Catalog

** In the model Box, type in *4X2, then click find.

I get the following results: 2387 - 4X2, 6X4 Gators, Diesel Gator, Trail Gator, Worksite Gator - 13Aug12 ( FR DE IT ES SV )

Then, you can click on pictures or an alpha guide to all of the parts and part #'s.

This lets me print out most anything I need. And, when I take the printout to my local John Deere dealership, it really saves a lot of time.

Next, seats. Here is what I'm going to order:

A & I Gator Seat —*Yellow, Model# VG11696 | Lawn Tractor Utility Vehicle Seats| Northern Tool + Equipment

These are affordable compared to OEM seats. Since I'm going to spend so much, this is one area I can save a little money.

I have already taken the transmission out of the Gator and replaced a part that was worn. The transmission is back in the gator and I'm now working on the engine. I'm having an issue with the idle on the engine. I need to get it to around 300 rpm. I'm not sure what the book calls for because I don't have a shop manual. The engine is a Kawasaki FE290D438851.

The model number (PIN) of my Gator is: W004X2X050542

I am also going to have to get 2 rear tires:

Turf Tamer Knobby ATV Tires

However, I may get the Stryker's.

Stryker ATV Tires

The rear tires are in 25-12-9

I almost had a heart attack when I found out how much the muffler alone was going to cost me.

Anyway, I plan to share some pictures of the engine and transmission job that I did, along with the dash replacement and some odd and end updates.

Question, does anyone know of an online resource for John Deere shop manuals? I called Kawasaki and they said the engine in my Gator was special made for JD. They don't have any users or owners manuals. They told me to contact JD. The Kawasaki engine Model Number is: FE290D438851.

If anyone has any pictures of this engine, or any schematics for the Govenor & Throttle Linkage I would really appreciate it.

Nice to meet everyone here.

Thanks for any help.

Cheap Stereo

Hey guys,
Long time viewer, first time poster. Joined the forum in August 2012 after i finally purchased my 825 i. Just thought I would share a cheap (less than $150.00) Stereo install. Picked up a CD player \ Radio $50.00 at Wal Mart, Under dash mounting kit $ 15.00 at Bass Pro Shop, Sound / speaker bar out of a Jeep Wrangler $40.00 from local junk yard, misc wiring and connectors $20.00. I did all of this with a no drill install. The CD player was mounted under the dash using 3M double sided tape. Ran all of the wiring inside the OPS and had it come out the factory opening at the cross member. All wiring was hidden inside the center console. Just thought I would share, did not want to dump a ton of cash on a radio was happy to find that the Jeep speaker bar fit. Thanks, look forward to any comments, good or bad!
Photos are in my album, it will not let me attach them to the post for some reason.

Gator at Mud Nationals

I was not too surprised that I was the only one there with a RSX Gator but I was kinda surprised at the performance. Even with the snorkels and everything being sealed, the first mud hole caused me to have issues. Something is gettiing wet on the electrical system. I believe the coil wire on the rear coil was the culprit. The second day we were completely submerged at the sandpit and it ran great. After riding fine all day i got in a small hole and it started acting up again. It would crank and idle but would hardly pull out of its own tracks until you got it going . On day 3 I had barely left camp good when I broke a rear differential. It appeared all the bolts had backed out and the differential split in half. Now its at the dealer and I have a really bad feeling that they will not warranty this machine. This gator performs well and does what it was intended to do however I will be buying a Razr in the near future. You can check out the pics on my facebook if you like. PM me for the info.

850D Trouble

Hello all,
I have a 2010 John Deere Gator XUV 850D, 2010. The problem i have is the machine wont start... When i turn the key once all the indicators come on, and after a few seconds only a red oil pressure light and a battery light stay on the dash. I then turn the key all the way, and nothing. I assume the battery is good because the headlights turn on no problem. I am wondering if it is something simple, because it only has nine hours on the hourmeter. anybody have any possible remedies? the machine would be a great help around the "office"
thanks, and admins if this is in the wrong spot sorry

Winch question

Hi - can't find out for sure if I need the KFI winch mount. I know I need to have a front hitch installed (have that) but is that all that's needed to mount a winch? That front hitch has a "shelf" of sorts just above the receiver opening that seems like it would accept an aftermarket winch. The KFI adaptor plate mounts between that and the winch or anchors the front of the winch up to just underneath the bumper (where there are 2 holes underneath that bar)?? Or only needed if you didn't opt for the front receiver mount? Also, if I need that KFI adaptor it lists several winches but the one I ordered is a Warn Vantage which does not appear on the list. Who has done this beofre to a 550 and what extras did you need?

Thnks

Smoking 550 Gator

My 550 has 18 hrs. on it and blue smoke comes out the exhaust when I de-accelerate. I have carried it to the dealer once at 8 hrs. and was they adjusted the fuel mixture. Said it was running too lean. Still doing the same thing again. The smoking stops once the rpm's increase to a higher number but once you slow down and then speed up more blue smoke. Anyone else having this problem? Mine is a 2012 550 one seater.:confused:

First of all I need to mention that I don't own a gator, but I have a close friend that I hunt with who's had one since 2004 and loves it. My friend is a 72 year old veteran living on a fixed income, and has trouble getting around because of past injuries. Since I'm 30 years younger and have no problems turning wrenches I try to help him out all I can. For the most part I've done all the service and maintenance work on his machine to save him the trouble and expense of taking it to a dealer for work. Well he called early last week complaining of noises coming from the front of his gator. Since it's due for an oil change anyway I drove over to pick it up, and when I got it home and drove it, I immediatlely experienced the problems he was describing. It feels almost like there's no left front shock at all. It seems with every little bump, it feels almost like the left front tire is hitting the top of the fender. I know that's not the case because when I jacked it up, everything feels tight and secure. I'm wondering if the problem is not in the drive line? Perhaps with the front differential? This machine is an 04' HPX 4x4.

Any thoughts?

Also where it best place to order parts online?
