Spare Tire Mounting System

Hello Gator Owners,
I thought I would post the results of my search for a Spare Tire Mounting system for my 825i Gator Cargo Box. My spare tires will be mounted as shown in the photo whenever I travel off my property.
Even with both spare tires mounted in this way, I still have plenty of room remaining in my cargo box to pack and store hunting and/or camping equipment.
While working on my property, the spare tires can be removed from the cargo box very quickly by just by removing the Hex Bolts screwed into the UTV Master Block as mentioned and shown in the description below .
As shown in the photo, these are the items I used to create a Spare Tire Tie Down System (for my two spare tires):
(1) Two UTV Master Blocks (Allriteproducts.com). One Master Block for each spare tire.
(2) Two Full Thread Hex Bolts - one is 3/8" x 4" long for the front spare tire and the other is 3/8" x 4-1/2" long for the rear spare tire and 4 washers of the correct size for the Hex Bolts (any hardware store). These bolts screw into the Master Blocks.
(3) Two U-Bolt Bars 3/8" wide x 4" long. These bars have holes on each end that are the same distance in inches as the two rim holes needed for securing the spare tire to the Master Block (any hardware store). One U-Bolt Bar for each spare tire.
(4) Two Full Threaded Hex Bolts - 3/8" x 2" long with correct sized washers and nuts to secure one bar end to one hole in the rim of the spare tire (Any hardware store). One hex bolt for each spare tire.
(5) Four U-Bolts 1/4" (stem thickness) x 1-1/4" (spacing between the U-Bolt stems) x 2-1/4" (length of the stems). Also correct size regular washers or locking washers and regular nuts or locking nuts for the 1/4" U-Bolts (Amazon.com). Two U-Bolts for each Master Block.
(6) Gorilla Black Duct Tape (3" wide). I used the Gorilla Tape to wrap around the Cargo Box rail to protect the rail from any possible scratches when mounting and securing the Master Block. (Any hardware store).
(7) Winged nuts can be substituted for the regular nuts. They may make it easier to Tighten down and unscrew the hex bolts.

I drove my Gator to test out my clamp system and it was still holding tight when I returned home. To remove each spare tire all you need to do is remove the main hex bolt. If you see any faults in my setup please post your comments and let me know.
Thanks for looking,
FredSG

Has Deere abandoned the RSX?

Over 2 years after the introduction, Deere doesn't seem to be offering much in any upgrades or letting us know if they are going to improve on the existing machine in upcoming years. Anyone have any idea what Deere plans to do with this model lineup? The new Mule and other Kawasaki products are looking pretty enticing (especially with a 3 year warranty!).

V006X4X048352 is the serial number. How the heck do you decode it? I want to know year, model, or anything else important!

I'm looking at buying this gator, and I don't know much about them. It has 187 hours on it, and they're asking $5,400. Is that a good deal??

Thanks in advance!!

I just purchased a 2014 825i. I have the glass windshield with wiper, poly roof, sliding rear window, net doors, spray in bed liner and a 6' Boss poly plow.
Comments:
Seems real loud, so much so its hard to have a conversation with the passenger
Steering wheel gets in the way when I get I/out
Heat coming up from the behind the seat

Questions:
Has anyone installed the air cleaner relocation kit from Deere?
Has anyone installed the noise reduction kit from Deere?
Has anyone installed the factory heater from Deere? Or an aftermarket heater?

Thanks for any input.

Ive done some searching on the fourm and cant seem to find anything on it. First off I really like the RSX and really want to consider it as a option. But the only thing that bothers me about them is you can spend the same money on a machine that runs 70mph down the road instead of 53mph. Is there a way to make them run with the competition? I dont mind adding power steering, and spacers for stance, and all other acessories but i have 4 friends that have can-ams 800's and 1000's. I dont have to be the fastest on the road but i would like to be able to keep up.

Extended warranty better than factory warranty!

I have been having some issues with what I believe is my belt slipping. I called the dealer and they said that the factory warranty does not cover transportation.....well I have the extended warranty that came with my rsx which does cover transportation. Thankfully my factory warranty is up and have the extended warranty which covers transportation bc they will come pickup and return for free. My closest dealer is probably 45 min away. Just thought that was interesting about the factory warranty.

No power to head lights and starter Gator HPX

Troubleshooting. New battery. Still no headlights and only hear a soft relay click near starter when I attempt to start. There is good 12v battery to starter. Seems to me the clue should be both the headlights and starter not energizing have something in common..Any know what the three relays do underneath the dash on a 2006 Gartor HPX? How can you test relay? Got good 12v to starter. As I remember, headlights go on as long as the key is on and the switch for the lights is on. I got no power there so it has to be something other that starter. Not sure where to test now. have both meter and probe test light. Help please.... Steve

OK pulled the ignition switch and put my test light across the top two post and it fires up the starter. Not sure why I still have no headlights...

Dump Bed Decals Peeling

I'm sure not the only one having this issue but my dump bed decals are starting to peel off. I have a 2012 build model but have only had it 7 mos. It's out of its factory warranty but I do have an extended warranty in place. Does anyone know if JD has a fix on fail for these early model units for decals? I have a call in to my dealer but no reply yet. Counting on the knowledgeable members to give me the facts before I hear back.

I have the black & camo with the black & chrome wheels so if there is no fix on fail and they won't replace the decals I may just peel them all the way off, buy a new hood and paint it black. I've seen posts of some of the all blacks and they look pretty mean. Any help is appreciated.

Trailing riding ..meeting the F150

It was a great day for driving. I went to the end of the state maintenance and followed the unpaved road (almost trail now). I drove it in my truck many years ago and it was not this bad.

I got it to the crest and turned around to drive back and ran into a F150 trying this same road. This is a narrow, rutted, rock road (looks like blasted to make a logging road). The F150 ended up backing up (luckily not over 50 ft to a clearing). The wife had just said I hope we do not meet anyone on this road.

Also, I faced the situation where the 825i would not shift easily. It had not worked as hard to date (deep ruts, rocks, running water stream) and with a ton of leaves so a slippery but plenty of climbing all in 4WD. It never felt taxed.

We drove to the inlaw' s (grandmother on wife's side) homestead in the Gator down the road and met the current owner. He offered for us to some trails he made. All these trails are always going up and down steep hills.

825i S4 front light bar

Looking for options on what you all have done for mounting a light bar on the front? I want to do something that is independent of the windshield and roof so they can be removed if/as needed. And I am kind of offended at the $350 price tag of the seizmik bar.
May end up fabing something out of steel and bolting it through the roll cage like a friend here did. But his is just a bar across the windshield that holds the bar. No real protection for the bar if going through thick stuff.

Howdy all! ..Had my Gator about 3 months now (825i). Haven't had time to enjoy as much as I want yet but got about 35 miles on it and today for the first time I smelled what seems to some belt slip. No smoke just odor and had been driving around a field about at 8 mph for 20 minutes. My question is this normal to smell this during break in?
THANKS in advance...

610i issues

Hello all.
Just acquired a 2007 620I with 200 hrs. on the clock last week. Have already come across with a couple of issues: 1. It seems to have a lot of slack in the drive train making it a little tricky making fine manuvers and downright scary when driving downhill. It kind of goes against human nature to have to accelerate to brake. According to JD this is normal and to be expected. 2. The Gator died today after I had left it idling off and on for most of the day loading and unloading fire wood. It stuttered and just died. Jumping the battery got it going again and I put the charger on it tonight. Next week I will have to investigate. The battery looks new but looks can be deceiving

Did I Blow it ??

Ok Guys, New to the forum & GATORS.. Just returned from a 2500 mile trip to pick up my new 2009 850D W/1045hr's. The battle ended up JD/POLARIS either with the YANMAR for I wanted that power plant (run it in my JD855 Tractor). I knew about the cheap wheel bearing & wet (damp) belt syndrome but find them no big deal. I work on most of my own stuff. I did not find this forum till yesterday looking for oil information AND DANG  Reading clutch replacements under warranty (which I have none) and more importantly the dreaded 3k to 6k repair bills for the whole FWD systems (clunking warning post). DID I BLOW IT by putting too much focus on a great power plant and miss the elephant in the livingroom ?? The problem seems to prevalent & expensive to ignore. With no permanent fix as well !! This has me rethinking the whole debate. Just buyers remorse or should I get out of this unit while it still runs ??? Thanks for any input.:(
