Understanding the drive system

I understand that the gator has a belt drive, but am uncertain as to just how the gearing interfaces with it.
For instance, if the gator is in neutral will this lock the drive or will it still be able to freewheel?
Any help would be appreciated.

I'm new to the forum, but have had my Gator 825i almost two years. Having clutch problems, which seem to be all too common. I'm looking for folks that might have dealt with clutch issues and anxious to understand how they dealt with them.

I also look forward to general Gator discussion.

I will try to attach some pictures, some when it was new and a few more with my dog Hairy and rigged up for battle against fallen trees as a result of an ice storm last December.

Has anyone ever heard or even riden at this place?? I saw it on the internet yesterday. they are boasting 2600 arces and 100 miles worth of trails with a rock crawl and mud pit. I am thinkin about going down there to ride for my birthday in two weeks if anyone wants togo let me know haha

Anything out there to get around that darn Rev Limiter? I have got an 825i and it is rediculous how it cuts out at 44 and thats it!

New Gator owner, picked up a 2008 620i. I am looking to outfit this with a windshield, roof and back panel. Some of the non-JD stuff says that it will work on the 625i, but does not mention the older 620i models. Just by looks, the ROPS/roll cage looks identical between the two. Is this the case?

live in florida and ride M/Cs and scoots.(currently riding a vespa GTV.----just bought a 2009 TX 4x2 Gator----excited as it will fill some time in a new venue.-----also just got a car!!!-----rode my scoots over half million miles without a cage for 15yrs.-----the Gator only has 300 hrs. i live in an area where i can use it for fun!!----thx for letting an old guy share a small part of your world----bkrdoug

Took my son to shoot trap the AIM Grand American at The Word Shooting and Recreation Complex in Sparta, Il. the last 4 days. Couldn't believe we had the only RSX there out of what must have been over 500 utility vehicles of every shape and size. We had a great time at the awesome complex and meet some new friends and was asked a 1000 times about the RSX. One of the conservation officers even pulled us over just so he could get a closer look at the RSX. He commented how all weekend he liked to listen to that Deere power at we rode from our camping spot down the 3.5mi trap line. He showed us a new trail from the dumpsters to the camp ground and said if no one is around get on it a little so he could hear it growl.

hello
I am interested to buy a Gator 6*4.
I found an interesting and not too expensive one on the net.
Only drawback (as expected), it is from 1998 and with 3000hours. It was owned by a council so should have been properly checked (no parts were changed). It is in a good shape.
It is has a diesel engine.
I have a Ford 3000 tractor which is from the 70ies and works great (but does not have many hours).
Wondering if it is a good idea to buy a gator with so many hours.
Do people here have old gators with many hours & had issues with them?
Do you know how many hours such engine can live?
Shall i expect to change parts after a certain level of hours?

First I am not here to sell our Gator. I am here to ask where would be the best place to post selling our Gator. Our XUV 550 4s was gifted to us brand new summer 2012. It now has only 33 hours logged. We just don't use it, and have limited storage. We want to sell it by owner and just listed it on our local Craiglist.

I wonder if this is the best place to sell it? If you were looking for a used Gator where would you Look?

My 2008 Gator 620i with 94 hours is having an idle issue. It has done this before and I changed the fuel filter air filter and plugs and it stopped. I tried the same this time and it still does it. Any thoughts would be helpful. Thanks.

Began to have what I thought were clutch issues last trip to the deer lease as the machine became hard to shift out of reverse once it warmed up.

Went to ride with some friends last night and after pulling someone out in reverse and having the machine at an angle in a slight bind I had to slap the gear shifter out of reverse. When I attempted to do so, I broke the threads on the bolt coming out of the transmission that the linkage ties into.

Had to drive backwards through the mudhole all the way back to the truck.

Machine is less than 3 months old. Hopefully my dealer can get it fixed quickly and at no cost to me.

I recently purchased a 2014 HPX (gas) and in the last few hours or so some oddness has developed. Started around 9 hours and now have 12 on it. I just wanted to see of this is normal for the HPX or weird.

1) going fast, there is a noise coming from the front of the machine...sounds like a rattle or someone throwing rocks up from the ground. It is coming from right below the radiator/front foot area

2) this started more recently. For some reason, starting out slowly the machine will accelerate a little, then there will be a jerk and it will continue accelerating. It is more pronounced while starting out slow, it is less of a bump if I accelerate quickly.

3) this is more of a dumb question...regarding traction assist. Is engaged down or up? Manual says pulling up disengages but that doesn't seem right to me. Is there supposed to be an indicator on the dash?

I have had neither of these issues on my older (~1997) gator...and there is also a traction assist dash light

Any help you guys could offer would be appreciated

I ordered the Optix HID kit from Amazon in 8000k and MAN did it make a huge difference. I was looking at the LED but I just didn't know how they were going to do. I know the HID's are a nice bright light on cars, figured how could I go wrong.

Today I got an email: my Gator arrived at my dealer! That's great. This afternoon I'll visit my new "pet" and shoot some photos!
Then he must be attuned to the german regulations for admission, you need this here when you're using your GATOR on the road.

And then, let the big fun begin!

Hey guys and gals. i just installed my 30 in mudlites and LOVE them they pull great and ride great too. But it still ant enough GC for me haha i was wondering who if anybody offered a 4in lift kit and about how much it would cost me.

I like to introduce my new pet to you. After all the Deeres I got now a Gator in the herd...







The weekend after next we'll drive to a plowday, 40 miles from home. I'll drive the 3120 with the tandem hauler and Doris, my wife, shall drive the Gator w/ the caravan.
I hope, she'll enjoy the driving, because in former times she always visited me w/ her car - let's see what will happen.
