Made the 22 mile round trip to a friends farm to haul some wood and just have a good time. You can see the pictures on my profile. (click "profile" to see pictures) As you will see the Gator is out hauling the Can-Am Commander about two logs to one! It was a good day to be out and about here in Iowa! Mostly I wanted to make sure the Gator was fixed after my last thread, I had made that you can see here. (Click "Here" to see the thread.) All in all it was a good day. Things are finally drying up so we can get in the field. Can't wait!

new guy needing some help
hello everyone my name is george and i have a 94-95 6x4 gator that i am trying to work on for a friend of mine. i love playing around with stuff that don't run and try and see what i can do. but anyway the squirrels ate through the wiring harness just under the floor pan . I pulled the wires out from both sides and added new wires and could just about get everything back together by the color codes on the wires. But then i ran into three sets of yellow wires with no other color lines on them. how do i determine with one goes to what yellow wire. i got power back to the starter and all the guage lights and all work properly and the one thing i am not getting is fire to the coil. Is there anyway of getting a good wiring diagram that i can chase down the rest of it. It is a gasoline water cooled engine with a serial number of W006X4X010635 .. Any help at all i would greatly appreciate it. thanks for your time

Brake Question
My 550 s4's parking break it won't release. There is a small part that is suppose to disengage brake when the brake is pressed and pushed all the way down. It pushes the tip that is in the sprocket out of the kog releasing the brake. This small piece has a stiff piece of wire connect to it. In my case this piece of wire is bent flat. Does anyone know were or what this wire goes or does. I've looked for drawing or a piture on line without success. My dealer has a parking break assembly ordered but not sure it needs the whole assembly. nothing is broke that I can see and by holding this small piece in place the brake releases.

New RSX 850i
Picked up my new RSX 850i Trail today, was told by the sales person that it has the extended 18 month warranty. He said at the JD quarterly meeting he went to at the beginning of this month that all 2013 RSX's will have this extended warranty and the $1000 rebate until further notice (probably till they get rid of all they have sitting in the warehouses). Anyway I have lots of goodies to put on it. Having had 3 Rhinos I ordered a dust shield for a 2007 Rhino and will try and get it to work on the RSX as both are almost identical in dimensions. I will keep you guys posted. If someone would check the vin thru JD warranty to see if it really does have the extended warranty for me, thanks. Vin# 1M0850TTPDM021018

New Gater in panama
Hello- I am a member of a great community located in the rain forest, in Panama. We have just purchased a new Gater to use as a Police patrol.
Our gated community "Los Altos de Cerro Azul" is located within the "chagres National Park" at a level of 3000'.
The vehicle will be use about 3 or 4 hrs per day by the local police & security.
It will have "on board" a first aid kit--fire ext--fire hose--jumper cables--
cell phone --radio--& armed police.
This in addition to our own local security truck will make rounds in our neighborhood , which has about 2000 lots. mostly with retired homes & weekend homes.
We are excited to get the new Gater & hope it fills our needs for extra security.
I will occasionally post things as I see happening. such as tire ware --tire pressure--or other related maintenance issues.

RSX Dust Cover
I ordered a Ryde-On dust cover for a 2007 Rhino because the RSX and Rhino are the same dimensions as far as roll cage diameter and width. The only thing I had to modify was cut 2 slits for the seat belt latches between the seats. Even the dust cover storage pouch between the seats was useable. Everything fit (my upper rear storage pouch, rear dust shield (rear window), JD cloth top). Seats hold dust cover over both battery and fuel tank openings, and rear drop down comes down to the base of the air box. There was a little extra material which I just folded over behind the seats. All in all it fit real well.

Engine RPM
I am having trouble shifting in/out of forward and reverse and I think my engine rpm might be the fault. It is idling at around 1575-1600 rpm. Is there a external idle adjustment screw on the EFI or is it controlled by the ECU?

St. Stephen's Ride
Been a while since I posted on this forum, figured it was time to post a few pictures up. A few weeks ago my friends and I went riding at St. Stephens historical park in Washington County Alabama. Great place to ride if you're in the area look them up on Facebook. They have a few rides every year and all the proceeds are used to keep up the trails since the state cut the funding. I have a snorkel kit coming in and a big ride coming up in a few weeks, I'll be sure to post of some pictures of that when the time comes.

Route the wires?
When you mount lights on the roof (I have a 825i), how do you route the wiring?
I don't think I want to just tape it to the ROPS. What are the alternatives?

Ordered Mirrors for the Gator
I had decided to get the Seizmik mirrors from amazon.com but ended up getting Big Dawg mirrors. They sell a little bit more.
After a little study, I will return them. They come with roll bar clamps but also an extension that allows more angle. They have little adjustment without the extensions so essentially give you a good look your rear wheels when mounted to the roll bar. The extensions add almost inch so 2 inches less clearance. The Seizmiks appear to fit closer to the body.
They do have swivels so if they hit something but do not think they are that good to take a good whack.

New guy from Winchester Bay Oregon
Hello all, I am a new Gator owner and am doing a few mods to my machine and wanted to come here and get some ideas.
I am 61, retired, disabled, but I still love hunting, fishing, and all kinds of outdoor activities, especially riding my atv's and side x side. I live about 1/4 of a mile from the pacific ocean and we have some of the biggest sand dunes in the country right here. Fact is I have a 100 foot sand dune in my back yard. I have been riding the dunes for as long as I have lived here. over 50 years. We started out with homade beach buggies all the way to what we have now.
I hope to find out everything that I am looking for right here and get the best possible info there is. and I am sure I will. Thanks. Towman

Can you upgrade the stator? Battery Draining
I'm looking to increase the amount of current I can draw from the stator. I've added custom components that cause the battery to drain after a couple of hours (by drain, I mean the custom components start to pull enough current that the voltage of the battery drops to around 10V during peak current draws). If I can upgrade the stator to put out more Amps than hopefully I can solve this problem! Does anyone know of an aftermarket part I can install? I talked to my dealer and they said that John Deere doesn't sell an upgraded stator for the RSX 850i. Thanks in advance for any help/advice.

New 825i (on the way) and new member
Hello everyone
Just found this forum and recently ordered JD 825i due to arrive here in Oregon on May 8. Forum looks great and I look forward to learning from all you veteran JD owners. I sold a 13 yr old Honda Rubicon to my neighbor hoping my wife will be able to enjoy some beach and mountain riding as well as help me out here on our small acreage. We are both in our mid 60's and age issues made the Honda uncomfortable for her - Hopefully the side by side thing will be easier on her than the back of the quad. Thanks in advance to everyone for the info and tips that I am sure to find on this site.

current draw
New to this forum and looking for some help with a 6X4 diesel Gator. The battery is constantly going dead and found there is a current draw when the battery is connected without anything being turned on. I checked the wiring and haven't found any chaffed wires to leak current to ground so I'm thinking a relay of some sort is sticking. I was wondering if anyone has had a similar problem or has any ideas of where to start. Also, the covers for the warning lights on the dash are missing and I have no idea what light means what. If anyone has a similar Gator and can let me know what the lights stand for, I'd appreciate it. Trying to help the owner of this machine and he hasn't found the manual for it yet to be of any help. BTW, the model number is W006X4D001980. I think it is a 2004 model year. Thanks for any help you can offer.
