I have gator rsx 850i trail.this is rather long, please forgive me. I really need info. As there is no info of this machine on internet.
2 rides ago I was in a mud hole trying to get up on the bank to get out. I kept bottoming out on the bank with the belly before front wheels touched. It finally got one front wheel on the bank. It hit rather hard and popped but still worked. The next ride I went on I could hear a loud pop while regular riding below my feet. It was not continuous. It was every now and then. Whether locked in or not. Well I got in another hole. Locked it in to get out and it was popping loud. It sounded like it was not locking in all the way. So I backed back out and locked it in on dry ground. It finally stopped popping and took gear. But now after checking it out it is lightly popping and vibrating and skipping kinda. Backwards or forwards. Locked or unlocked. I put it on jack stands for further testing. It turns smooth and free by hand and with engine running. So I applied brake to put pressure on wheel. Judging by sound and only looking at tire it was lightly popping, skipping, and vibrating. Can anybody give me some shared knowledge or possibilities of the problem?

I have unhooked the temperature sensor and it makes no difference it is hard to start and runs rough any ideas

I am looking to install some turf friendly tires on my HPX because if the damage to the grass from the knobby tires. Anyone have any suggestions for a brand or the exactly what the tires are called ("turf friendly, low impact")

Been having an issue while in 4wd when I get the gator in some heavy snow or even some mud that puts a load on the front wheels so they have to pull they will stop spinning. I started watching the front drive shaft and its spinning where it goes into the front diff. so the transfer case is locked in like it should. Then the front end pops/grabs and the front wheels start turning. I am going to make sure the driveshaft was tight on the shaft but I am worried it is internal to the differential.

ANY ideas or anyone heard of this problem.

New guy here so forgive me if this is old news. Just bought my 850i. Camo. Warn winch on the front. Just fabricated door inserts and a roof out of black aluminum diamond plate and put a windshield on it. Also made a winch plate for the rear receiver and installed anther winch on the rear. Looking good, but now on to performance: Snorkel kit is coming in April. My question is who makes a heavy duty axle for the 850i? Once I burn off these factory 26's, I would like to lift it and put 30's on it but won't even think about going over 28's if I can't find good, strong axles for it. Gorilla does not make them apparently and can't find anyone else who does either.

Howdy 'yall. Just bought my Gator 850i in January. Love it to death but unfortunately the engine started knocking so it's back at the dealership as of today. Hopefully we'll get it fixed up right and this will just be a fluke. However, it is a little scary and there's not a lot of support out there for us JD boys like there is for the Can-Am's and RZR crowds which is how I found this forum. I'm hoping to meet other Gator owners and talk issues, parts, mods, etc. Glad to be here and look forward to talking with you guys and gals. Going to try and add some pics of it from when it was brand new and then a few other pics with diamond plate door inserts, roof, and rear winch plate that I've fabbed and put on so far. Looking forward to getting it back and moving on to a snorkel, lift, and tires.

Can someone with a service manual for a 2014 825i please look up the torque spec for the front a-arm ball joints.

Also would someone be kind enought to check and see if they have cotter pins or lock wire in the ball joint studs above the lock nut on those ball joints...

Heard expensive news today. Of course had to go back to dealer only to get parts for rsx 850. I ask about the bushings in the swing arm. Because I noticed mine had play side to side. Part #22 on their exploded parts view. Seems an easy cheap replacement. Ok dude said john deer used to carry that part. Even had the old part number. But they pulled it??? The only way you can get it now is to buy the whole swing arm or a- arm!! Is this right?

My left side rear wheel bearing is toast. Called Deere and parts said they couldn't find just the bearing in the parts diagram. Said schematic only showed whole assembly ($90!!). They said they would do more checking and call me Monday. Anyone have a bearing go out or have the part number?

Hi, I have an HPX gator that had the complete bottom of the transmission break off. I need the case. But I would take a complete transmission if possible. Anyone have a case or transmission?

I got the Gator out after a snow while back in Virginia. It was muddy but no issues at all. Now I want to build a small bridge (10 ft long, 8 ft wide) to cross the little creek. Driving across it has broken down the sides.

I test drove this machine on Friday.

I must say I was really impressd with it. It's a comfortable ride, although I wish it came with power steering as I was testing the hauling capability with a snowmobile trailer and yes it got a little tough backing up or turing at low speeds - power steering I'm sure is being considered. Really like the sport seats and dashboard, I think they did a great job as a company trying to get into this market that's dominated by Polaris, AC etc.

For some reason I'm still not sold on the Piaggio engine only because I'm not familiar with them. Yes they're a reputable engine manufacturer in Europe, this RSX850i sounds like a monster, albeit, it's a loud ride but I need to do more research on the Piaggio/ Deere relationship.

What are your thoughts with regards to this Piaggio engine? I get the frame, suspension, and general ergonomics of this machine so I'd like to focus this thread on the Piaggio engine.

Does anyone know if there are any differences...except in years between a 2012 RSX850i and a 2014 RSX850i. I have been offered a great deal on the 2012 which is still brand new at the dealer but do not want to miss out on any improvements that may be on the 2014. Thanks
