Own a 2011 hpx 4x4. I have a problem keeping it running in cold weather. It starts alright but many time while ruining the plow, lights, W/Wipe etc It will stall or when changing forward and reverse it sputters badly when I apply the gas pedal. I was wondering if anyone has the same problems and did they install the heavy duty alternator and larger battery. when I plow there is a
heavy draw on the engine. .

Just joined this site a few days ago. Have a 12 XUV 550 that was purchased in May of 2012. I use it quite often but not a ton. I use it to plow my driveway and quite a few others and it has come in very handy. Had a mule before this and it was ok but the JD has much more acceleration. Had a 4 wheeler before that and wish I had not sold that, but just bought the UTV to go with it. I live in the Midwest. I have put a Poly windshield and top on, some extra lights, fire extinguisher and some new john deere yellow and aluminum wheels that make it look more awesome. Got a lot of comments on those.

The new gators are out, not much change in looks or price. The only additions are doors to the 625,825,850i and net doors to the 550. maybe the door will fit older models too.

I have a 72" powertach blade (plow for us easterner) the temps were low about 10 degrees but the load on the unit was low because the snow was light. The plow just stopped working after a push. waited for the override to reset. nothing. I have checked the solenoid (working, pump working and full of oil and replaced the 3 -40 amp relays in the wiring harness. stilll nothing. The makers of the blade are sending me a new wiring harness, with one relay upgraded to 40 amp. My problem is that Power Place in Rockaway NJ doesn't offer a clue or has an idea what went wrong. they sell the item but I have to explain to the parts guy each time what accessory I have. A 72 plow id not a vanity mirror and I would expect the dealers service dept. to have at least a small understanding of the unit they sold to m . Very frustrating with snow on the way.

Got home this evenning and was surprised to see a small box from J.D. in my mailbox. My first thought was that I had broken my self imposed rule of no drinking and shopping on-line!! Anyway, opened the box and found a new oil filter and a $50 coupon. Literature inside the box says that Deere has updated the filter and that I should replace it immediately. The new filter is about a 1/3 as long as the old filter. Anyone have any input as what the problem was?

Has anyone gotten in touch with the guy that used black stair tread to seal up an area around the door? I tried emailing him with no success and would like to know just how and where he put everything.

Have a 2006 HPX diesel that intermittently blows the 30 amp fuse when the ignition key is turned to start mode. The fuel delivery and starter solenoids are both on this circuit. I do not understand why the fuel solenoid has a three wire lead. I am sure it has something to do with the run cycle and start cycle, but not sure how they relate to one another. the starter solenoid draws only 5 amps. I cant imagine the fuel start circuit drawing more than that. When it does not blow fuses it starts just fine! If I by pass the ignition start circuit with the key turned to "run" I can start the gator every time and run it all day! Any help is deeply appreciated.

Waited a month for the tracks to come from about 12 hours away, but they made it and the snow is still here so that's a bonus. The folks at Camoplast said it takes about an hour to install, maybe if you've done a dozen of them before, I got about 5 hours in but should be done in an hour or so.:D

he 825i service is based upon hours or time whichever comes first.
Is everyone following this routine? I would replace the air filter based upon inspection and usually based upon driving conditions.
Annually, the net is:
1. fuel filter
2. air filter
3. spark plugs
4. Oil/filter - if this were a car, I would do it every 6 months unless using synthetic. For air cooled OPE, I do it annually - never get more than 20 hrs on them.
5. grease
6. Clean drive clutch - I looked at the tech ref manual and nothing unique on how to clean it. It is just a belt
Every 50 Hours or Annually
Check brake fluid level.
Lubricate drive line (two locations).
Check 4WD front differential oil level.
Check transaxle oil level.
Inspect driveline CV boots for tears or punctures.
Inspect park brake for proper function. (See your John Deere dealer for any adjustments needed.)
Grease cargo box tailgate strikers.
Every 100 Hours or Annually (whichever comes first)
Change engine oil and filter.
Every 200 Hours or Annually (whichever comes first)
Change fuel filter.
Change spark plugs.
Change air cleaner element.
Check air cleaner dust unloading valve.
Clean radiator.
Check drive belt condition.
Check driven clutch wear buttons (625i).
Clean primary drive clutch.
Inspect battery. Clean if necessary.
Inspect alternator belt (825i, optional on 625i).
Grease front and rear suspension bushings.
Check toe-in.
Check brake pad wear.
Check park brake oil level.
Check and tighten wheel bolts to correct torque.
Check/clean spark arrestor if equipped.
Check and tighten all hardware.
Inspect cargo box lanyards.
