Hello, let me start off by saying im new to this forum so if this question has been beat to death please let me know.
Has anyone put the rsx through really bad stuff, i mean really really bad, and how hard are yall on them? If so any problems? Im wanting to use mine for rock/hill climbs but need to know if it'll handle extreme terrain. Thanks in advance for any info yall have.

Lift Kit vs Real Numbers

So I purchased the SuperATV lift for my RSX (Fox 2.0 shocks) and installed it over the holidays. An interesting note:, the Maxxis Bighorn 2.0 tires actually only measure 25.1” vs the advertised 26” with 14 psi. Thought I would share some of my findings:
· When I first purchased my RSX last summer, I measured the clearance frt and back. It had about 9.75” on both frt and rear.
· A few months later with some miles on it, the springs had sagged somewhat, so I cranked up the stops on the springs, and got it back to about 9.75-10” of clearance. This involved turning the spring stops all the way to the thin stopwashers.
· Prior to installing the lift kit, I measured frt and rear clearance, and got 9.5” on the frt and 10” on the back

New skid plate

The riding I do around here varies greatly from snow and mud to rock crawling and trails. I was a little apprehensive about the skid plate protection that the RSX comes with from the factory, so I took the initiative myself and built my own.
A fellow down the road from me builds custom boat skid plates for aluminum jet boats, so I visited him and purchased a 4'x5' sheet of UHMW plastic (1/2" thick) for $200. He claims that his customers have not managed to wreck this stuff so far and they are pounding 4000-5000 lb jet boats onto rocks and gravel bars. I figured that its gotta hold up better the 3/16" factory stuff, since I have almost destroyed it in the first 500 miles!

Thanks

new guy with a 825i clutch question

Good evening gentleman , wanted to thank you all for a great wealth of knowledge that i have gained over the last couple months lurking in the background.

I have question and hope , i have a 2012 825i that i purchase with 60 hrs on it mint condition and have had it out on the farm a couple times over the last month. this morning i thought i was in low gear ,after checking it was not, the RPM'S for the MPH were way to high. I checked and double checked all i knew to look at and saw no issues. All the linkage looked great .

Once i got it back to the shop i made sure there was no trash in the belt area and even went as far to loosed the top of the belt cover to look in with a flash light and all looked ok.

i can clearly tell the difference when a slight power brake it applied in low and high so i am sure it is not tranny related . It feels as if maybe it is slipping at high rpms and the rev limiter hit in high gear at a speed of about 25

hope this makes since and you can give me a little help. Thanks

Gator 825i fuel pump shut off?

Is there an inertia shut off on a 2012 JD Gator 825i for the fuel pump? The dealer had my Gator in for a warranty replacement of a cv axle and when they attempted to drop it off the fuel pump wouldn't kick on  The delivery guy had just started it to drive it up on the trailer...everything was working great, then he drove approx 12 miles to drop it off at my home and it wouldn't start. When the key is cycled on the fuel pump never kicked on at all, they took the Gator back to the shop to look at it again but I'm curious for my own sake if I haul the Gator a long ways for a trail ride and it does the same thing I want to know what to look for.

Just talked to trail armor about their rear window for a RSX.
They don't have one yet and were hoping to get a machine in the shop this spring.

They're located in north Mississippi, if anyone is interested give them a call.

Please help with year and model?

I just got a gator and from what I can make out the SN is W006X4X035972. Also, after installing new battery there is a clicking noise in an oval silver metal thing and when I try to start the power is gone and I have to disconnect battery and reconnect to get power back. Any idea what's wrong?

Newbie here!
i just started working at this new job, and my first assignment was this gator. So, it was brought in with this problem, it was shooting the dipstick out of the tube and oil was spraying everywhere. Oil level is good. we checked the flapper valve under the head and it was good. went through the motor and rings, gaps and bore all MICd in spec.

Well i put new rings in anyway (since it was already apart) and got it back running. runs good, and the dipstick doesnt blow out, but when you remove it, oil still sprays out alot. im not sure what this could be? i thought it was excessive blow by but i dont think that is the case here.

well i noticed when i took the motor apart, the wires to the voltage regulator were all disconnected and burnt up. and the reg. itself was missing all 3 prongs and burnt up as well. i just got a new regulator in but there is no schematic on which wires go where. I looked all over and cant find one on the net. can someone please help me with this! thanx!

Help getting gator going

I got a gator yesterday that needs cleaned up and a few things fixed. I put a new battery in and the part in the pic started clicking and the lights came on. If I try to start it, the lights go out and clicking stops and I have to disconnect/reconnect battery to get power back.

Any ideas why this is clicking and what it is and why power is lost when I try to start it?

Traded up for older

I bought a new Gator CX in 2008, great little machine for what I do with it, but always looked at the bigger ones with a touch of envy...

Today I traded in the 2008 CX for a 2007 620i & a few bucks to boot!!

The CX box could carry 400 lbs, the 620i box 1,000 lbs.
9.5 HP vs 23 HP & now 4x4, good for hauling fire wood off the hills!
The 620i has about $2,000 of extras like top, windshield, etc. Nice to keep the cold air from making you cry as you drive. Low hrs. & looks brand new, was a single owner like myself that took care of his equipment. He traded up for a bigger as well.

I cut firewood, I have a small greenhouse & do lots of planting & hauling with the Gator as well as I had a 35 gal water tank in it, new one will carry 55 gal easy! I don't trail ride or high speed ride, but I do need a good utility vehicle for my 3.5 acres yard.

My dealer is good & I trust them, bought mowers & tractors from them in the past. Always liked their service & help.

I am looking at either buying a 825 or 850 trail and I can get power steering on the 825 but not on the 850. My question is does the 850 need the power steering?

Kenda Scorpion tires for Gator 6x4??

$

I'm having a little difficulty accepting the fact that replacing the tires on my gator costs over $100 for the front 22.5x10x8 each and $125 or more for the back 25x12x9 each. I found some Kenda Scorpions for $52 front and $60 rear (new not used) but couldn't find a rating to see if it could handle the weight of a working gator. Any input or warnings before they arrive? I would rather learn now and have to return them before putting them on the gator and be really disappointed.

Placing a factory order for a new 825i tomorrow...It will be factory shipped with the Ancla MT tires (26x9x12 Fr and 26x11x12 Rear)....
Dont think I am going to like these....My question is:
Will I have any clearance issues with a set of Interco Swamp Lites size 29.5x10x12 front and rear....Also, anyone know it the front and rear rim offsets are the same?? Considering rims as well....
Thanks JD

Engine Will Not Crank

This is really strange to me. I have checked everything out all the way to the starter solenoid. If I measure the voltage when I turn the key to start I am reading 12.15 volts at the end of the wire that connects to the solenoid. The engine does not even click. If I take a hot wire from the battery and touch the same location on the solenoid, it starts right up. The only difference is the voltage direct is 12.4 volts which is only a .15 voltage drop through the wiring harness.
Any Ideas ????:

Front blade is coming!

Hey all,

I just wanted to let you know that John Deere will very soon be releasing the 66" Front Blade for the RSX. It shouldnt be too long till the parts are released and we have a front blade for our gator. It's a winch controlled blade so those who have one will save a lot of money.

Otherwise you'll have to get one.

More info to come!

825i transmission solution

I purchased a new 825i 2 months ago and noticed that the clutch did not engage until the motor hit nearly 2700 rpm and would be about 3000 rpm going 3 mph. The dealer said it was a high revving engine and that was all they would say. But I was not satisfied with that answer and started researching. The forum here had some other people talking about the weights and springs in the clutch and having to contact the clutch manufacturer about a new spring and possibly dropping the rpm by 500. This did not sound like much of a solution.

After a month, I went back to the dealer and test drove a diesel model and its clutch engaged at around 1400 rpm. So we looked at the clutch parts for the 825i and the diesel and found them to almost identical. the spring was different the weights were heavier. After ordering the new spring and weights for the diesel clutch to swap out with the original parts we hit a snag. There is a difference in the clutch housing where the weights fit. So we had to order the complete diesel clutch. Then had the Dealer install the new clutch, no other modifications needed.

Now my gator engages at around 1400 rpm and goes about 12 mph at 3000 rpm, and when put your foot down on the gas the engine comes to life and you better hold on at 40 mph you are at about 5000 rpm. The fuel consumption was cut by half due to the lower rpm's and you still have all the power you need. This modification was took less than a day and made great and very useful machine.
