825i idle issue after washing

$

My 825i is an awesome piece of equipment. It's about 4 years old and I gave it a quick rinse off with a water hose, raised the bed and sprayed engine compartment, and since then it idles high. I regularly wash it off and something changed. Now Idles around +-3000 rpm and I have to turn it off to shift into forward or reverse. I've looked at the book, talked to my dealer and found this site to see if any of you have any other ideas before I call the dealer to come get it.

Appreciate the help.

Starting to look at the 590i and 825i. Have heard of significant problems with camo color fading, turning purple.

Would love to see a thread on just the 590i.

Thanks

Floods going up hill

Hello all,
I just registered here and am looking for solution to a problem that has me and John Deere service stumped.
I inherited an older 4x6 gator # W006x4x012044. It runs fine with full power most of the time. But sometimes when going uphill it stalls and can't be restarted until I remove the gas fouled plugs and let them dry out. Again this only happens going uphill. The rear plug is the most fouled.
The puzzle is that between the fuel pump and carb is an after market, adjustable fuel regulator that is sold by most auto parts stores like Auto Zone, O'Reillys etc.
When I spoke with J.D. service I was told these were installed by the dealers because the fuel pumps created to much pressure and needed to be turned down. Duh ! Isn't that what the float / needle is supposed to do ?
Has anyone here experienced the same issues or heard about this fuel regulator ? The regulator is good.

Thanx in advance

XUV 550/560 4x4 Lever - picture needed

Hi, new here and recently purchased an XUV 550 for the deer camp. It's been great so far and goes everywhere on property I need it to. Shifting into 2WD doesn't seem to do anything and when I look at the assembly of the lever the cable it doesn't seem that the lever is attached to the cables directly but appears to actuate the cables for 4wd and 4wd lock.

Is this correct? Can someone send a picture of how its supposed to be assembled? The manuals don't have a clear picture of what the assembly should look like. I don't know if I have an issue but the assembly doesn't look right to me.

Thanks, Matt

Help Clutch Puller Tool: 825i, 850D and 855D

I need to remove the sticking clutch in my 855D and need help from those who have removed clutches before from early models: 825i, 850D or 855D. Early is considered SN: below 060000. All of these machines require clutch puller tool, JDG1641.

Please Note: Gators with SN 060001 and above use a different puller, JDG11200 with different threads. (I am not interested in this)

I hate to pay for a special tool when a home solution is available and much cheaper. Example: Common hex bolt and appropriate rod to push against. So I’m looking for help in what will work, so it can be purchased prior to removal.

Need:
1. Confirmation threads are 9/16-18
2. JD Puller substitute solution: Bolt and pusher rod diameter and length. Example Hex head bolt 9/16-18x4.0” long purchased from Lowes and hex head bolt 1/2-12x2.5” long with head removed.

Perhaps the attached photos will help demonstrate what I am looking for. Looking for a solution such as the 2nd photo. Remember this is for the older style clutch.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Attention - Password and Security Update

Hey all,

Over the next few days we will be implementing some changes to our forum password strength and password expiration policies. To make sure you continue having the best experience possible on the community, we regularly monitor the site and the Internet to keep everyone's account information safe. We've recently become aware of a potential risk to some accounts coming from outside of this community. Just to be safe, we are implementing the following changes to improve security even further:

1) We are asking everyone to change their passwords (and will force a one time reset). Along with every user on the forum, new passwords will need to be more complex, and can't be simple words (sorry, you can't have "fluffy" as your password anymore!). Please use a password unique to this community. Reusing passwords can expose your account indirectly when other websites (Twitter, Linkedin, Badoo, etc) are compromised; and

2) Your passwords will expire on a 365 day basis. When you login on the 366th day, you will have to change it.

We'll also be sending out an email to users to let them know about the changes, in upcoming weeks.

Thanks all,
Helena

Changing clutch to newer model for engine braking

My Gator: 2012 855D with serial number under 60000

Does anyone know with 100% certainty if the early model primary and secondary can be swapped out with late model primary & secondary clutches to obtain engine braking when going down hill?

My primary clutch is sticking and through if it is going to be replaced why not spend the extra for the complementary secondary to obtain engine braking. For what it is worth, the belts are the same.

Finally got a JD glass windshied for my 825i.

The problem I'm having is with the windshiel wiper wiring kit. The little bit of instructions that came with it say to use a wiring snake and run the wiring harness from under the right rear ROP and out the left front cross brace on thr ROP.

Anyone got any good advice on just how to do this??

Thanks

XUV550s4 vs. XUV825iS4

Howdy-just joined. Active member on the Green Tractor Talk forum as I have a LCUT-3038e.

About the same time as the tractor purchase we picked up a XUV550s4. We didn't do our research. Relied on the JD reputation. It's now back at the dealer for the second time-shifter problems. This time I think the shift cable broke. It has 40 hours on it. We do not abuse this machine. It's used to haul passengers around the property-usually in low-half speed. The other use is for equipment to the work area-usually chain saws, gas and tools.

I've seen all over the internet where this model seems to have continuous problems. I did read one post where a JD tech commented that if they are fixed right they are a good machine.

From a performance/use standpoint the 550 is just fine for us. In fact we really like it-but we like stuff to work-not lose weeks at a time taking it in for service. Plus it's 2 years old now and out of warranty.

My son is done with it. he wants to go get a Polaris or another brand. When we dropped it off at the dealer yesterday we did see a XUV825iS4. Looks nice. Can we expect that machine to be more reliable? Looks like it has been around for a couple of years and I'm not finding much negative on the forums about it.

What could we expect to get for the 550 as a trade in on the 825?

Are there any 550 owners that feel their machine can be fixed and used reliably? Another reason I joined the forum is to see if there are any aftermarket transmission/shifting upgrades to improve the 550-Haven't seemed to find any. Thoughts?

What I don't want to do is to keep the 550 and have to have it serviced all the time. We do maintain our equipment so routine hourly maintenance is acceptable to us-not replacing shifter cables and clutches every 40 hours or so.

El Cheapo way to fix slow leak

$

Hello, I bought a used Gator, a 2009 Gator 850D diesel XUV. Might have the original tires on it? I didn't think the hours was that high, about 720 hours. But each rear tire has several plugs. The left rear tire has a slow leak. Kind of aggravating to have to air it up after it sits a couple days. What are my options other than buying new tires? The tires have plenty of tread for me, so, I would rather fix these than buy new tires. Can fix-a-flat work? Or can a leaking plug be plugged?

If I have to buy new tires, is there a source that is cheaper than going to a dealer? I'm like saving where I can, lol.

855D won't shift while engine running

My 855d won't shift while engine is running. Had dealer check it when it was still in warranty, told me it was rust on the clutch from not driving it enough...

less than 50 miles on the unit.

I have read where the 825i people use the diesel clutch to fix theirs. So what do I do with the diesel?

Irritated me enough to try to trade it in, but to far upside down.

Any suggestions?
