I just had my new rsx 850i gator in a little bit of mud and water approx. 15". Just to find out that water and mud can enter the transmission through the dip stick tube? I took it to the dealer so they could see what could potentially happen if the machine was in water and mud. They replaced the transmission oil and noted the concern. Unfortunately I still have the same dip stick which doesn't fit properly to avoid this from happening again. I will have to adapt something so this doesn't happen to me while I am 30 kms. in the bush and wait for more people to complain about the same issue so John Deere can correct the problem through a recall. Which could possibly cost them more in the long run by unnecessary repairs which could have been avoided through proper research and replacement.

New Gator owner and first John Deere
Just picked up a 2013 Gator RSX850i Sport over the weekend, and found these forums. It's interesting to hear others with similar experiences as mine so far with only 5hrs on it. I come from a motorcycle racing, dirt bike, karting and car track day background so this SxS is very new to me. However one of the draws to this model was the fact that is leverages a large displacement fuel injected V-Twin. I've had Aprilias as race bikes in the past as well as SV650 so I have plenty of experience with liquid cool V-Twins and the torque they deliver.
All I can say is that the RSX didn't disappoint. I can't wait to get some more hours on it, change the oil, and really start to open it up. So just wanted to introduce myself and I'm sure I'll have lots of questions as I get into this new tool/weekend toy.

UPDATe-Broken Rear End
After the dealership had my Gator for over a month, I got it back on a Friday and loaded it up to head to Hillarosa for a mud bog. It was being used as a back up bike since we already broke it once and with less than 2 hours on it and about 5 miles it once again demolished the rear differential. This time on flat level ground and not being abused at all. I am very dissapointed with this machine and now that the warranty has expired im very nervous about it. There is also an issue with water getting into some of the elictrical connections causing the engine to cut out and stall.
No reason this bike should be breaking a rear end before it breaks an axle but who knows. I Bought a RZR 800s for my mud bike I just hope that they get this one lined out soon. I get alot of attention with it and lately it seems to be a lot of bad press in my area.

620i fuel pump
My fuel pump on my 620i Gator continues to run loudly when the engine is running. It comes on with the key for I suppose the prime and stops but goes right back on and continues to run after the engine starts. Talking to my local JDD mechanic who services both our 3520 and the Gator, he figured the filter was clogged reducing the pressure and triggering the pump to keep running. There's no in-tank filter and I replaced the inline filter in the engine compartment today but didn't fix the problem. So I guess next is the pressure regulator or fuel pump; any ideas? Also, is the fuel pump designed to come on and off depending on the draw or does it stay on all the time and I've just not noticed it before?

Looking for Year of Mnaufacture
I just purchased this gator which is supposed to be a 2008 model. It is rough but runs good. Data platen rear of gator is gone. Found number by battery which I think is the S/N. I had to make some guesses but here it is: The number is WQ4XZ(or2)3Do43485 I think. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Transmission?
Is it just me or is the RSX a little clunky going from neutral to H or R? I recall a gator that used to run around the campground we were at and it constantly made horrible grinding noises. This scares me a bit because sometimes the RSX seems stiff to shift then if its not all the way in gear it grinds too. So I'm very careful now putting it into H or R and very slowly touch the gas pedal to make sure it engages. Sometimes it seeems like if the machine rocks forward or back a little bit then it slides right into gear. Is this how it is supposed to be? Is it just because it's brand new?

Year of Manufacturing
Sorry I don't know how to achieve this any other way. I posted looking for year of manufacturing of this 4x2 gator. It has been in a very corrosive enviro
ment. Attacking gator on the steel below the paint. I pulled off the paint and s/n and the best I can make out is as follows. Previous post had to many digets I think. Not real sure about what I read. Lets try. Number is WQ4XZ(or2)3D04345.

Parking Brake Adjustment
I have either a 2008 or 2009 Gator HPX 4x4 gas engine. The parking brake has never really held tightly as far as I can remember, and now I have a desire and need to fix it.
I don't have a tech manual for the Gator or I might could do it myself.
Is there somewhere to download (or buy to download) the manual for this Gator?
Or is adjusting the parking brake something that should be easy enough that someone can give me directions in this forum?
Thanks for any help or suggestions!

New to Deere
Hi guys, my name is Nate Martinez and I am with Alba Racing. I am not a Deere owner, but a avid SxS enthusiast and builder. I thought I would jump on here and say hello. We have been working with Vigor Motorsports and Magnum Offroad doing some performance R/D on their race Gators.
I have to say I am very impressed with the platform and see a lot of potential in these cars.
Stay tuned to see what we come up with as we are currently getting ready to test a new set of Camshafts and fully ported heads!
