Gator 4x2 Engine Swap

Hi all, the engine in my gator locked up unfortunately, and it's time to replace it. Has anyone had any experience with this? What were the results? I'm looking at getting the 8hp Kawasaki FE250D to replace the stock FE290D for cost purposes. Anyone used that engine before? Is there a noticeable difference in power?

New to me 1999 6x4

Just got my new to me 6x4 gator running, after reviewing articles for about 45 minutes last night and following xcopterdocs specific instructions! Thanks for the guidance!
What: 6x4 gator serial #WOO6X4X041791 total hours 747
When: 1999 model according links found on Gatorforums.net
How: My senior neighbor had a green gator by his barn that I had been thinking about for over a year. He's in his 80's and I finally had the chance to pin him down on it and offer to buy it. He said it had not run in 1 year, (probably 2 or more) and he would sell. I made Cash offer, he said come get it.
After replacing the battery, purging the fuel system prior to carb, cleaning terminals on key switch and all the others while hood was off, I cranked it up!
It started up!! Let it run for a bit, then shut off and restarted a few times!
Good news: antifreeze is green, motor oil is clear.
Bad: two out of six tires don't hold air 24 hours (easy fix even with new tires)
Seats have separated from base. May need new seats. Choke cable froze, bent.
So for the questions;
Replace radiator hoses, flush radiator?
Lubricate per manual (coming)
Anything special to look out for on one that has been sitting regarding cooling system, clutch/drive, etc?
Wife and I are stoked it is in such good shape, and it is my first Gator!!!
:):)

Gator 855D S4 Diesel low power / CV joints

I have a 2013 855D and since new it has very low power it is very slow and when loded in any manner ie up hill, weight added or when tracks are installed it can barely get out of its own way we have to get a running start to get it on a trailer witht he tracks on or it wont climb the engine tone changes as power is needed as a diesel would we beleive it to be a cluthcing issue. It has been at the dealer many times wiht nothing found. They are great but do not seem to know a lot about it. Has onyone seen this or have any ideas? There is a turbo kit for it but it is over $2000.00 and we are not sure it is the final as we think it is clutch related.
This is a 4 seater with a dump and used for utility work we can't pull a trailer or freight the bed or we will never get out of the woods and if we hit a hill we have to dump the load.
Thanks

2nd item is it is just over ayear old and mostly used in the winter only 1000 miles on it and both front cv joints are very loose the boots are not ripped but the joints are wiped out both outers. has anyone seen this?

Should I need to worry?

Hi folks. My first post so getting close....Ho Ho Ho ! My question is two fold. I just purchased a 2012 825i with 130 hours on it and looks like new. Very excited as we have 4 other Deere products with no issues. My wife and I drove almost 2 hours to pick it up and after paying went to put it on the trailer we rented and it seemed slow to get into gear and rather hard to shift. The parking lot was ice covered so perhaps I didn't feel the back wheels spinning. Got it moving after applying a lot more gas and took it over to the trailer. I took a bit of a run at it and got it up but not centred so it felt like it popped out of gear and went back or did I put it in neutral in my haste. Don't know but when it was in 4x4 the front wheels wouldn't kick in. The mechanic came out and looked under it and the drive shaft was turning but not the wheels kicking in. Needless to say I never got to take it home. They are working on it. So my questions are:
1. Do I need to worry as I found other similar issues with shifting etc. and had to do with the clutch?
2. And this one is easy. I have already bought a Superwinch for it and wondered if there were any after market in/out switches that would fit in the dash cut outs.
Long winded so I apologize. To all my new friends in here have a great Holiday and a safe and Happy New Year. Jack:)

Update: Hello again. No, I don't need to worry after all. The mechanic called and seems the issue is no power to the solenoid to the front end so very happy. Won't have it till after Christmas but worth the wait. Still looking for the dash switch however. Thanks Jack

Regarding my 825i half doors.

Hope everyone had a Merry Ho Ho. I have a 2012 825i and thought I saw in my searching before I bought this that there were some I saw with the neat looking half doors. In questioning a local dealer I learned that Deere started putting the half doors on 2014 models and up only and available in black or the darker green. I was sure that I saw the green and yellow of the 2012 traditional scheme.
Could they have been after market? I am not fussy on the soft sided ones, no offence to those who do, but has anyone seen what I saw? Jack

Crankcase Cover Removal?

$

I have a 2002 4X6 Gator with a Kaw FD620D engine. One of the bolts broke off holding the water pump. The motor is out of the Gator. I need to remove the crankcase side cover to get to the remaining broken bolt. I have removed the clutch and all the bolts around the crankcase cover and all the bolts for the water pump, but its not wanting to come off. I have tapped on the bottom square areas and seem to be getting a little gap on the bottom of the crankcase cover but the top isn't budging.

Is there any tricks to getting these removed?

New Midnight possibly?

So the RSX has made its way to the top of my list. I have a good relation ship with my dealer. My JD stuff has not been perfect but they have taken care of things so that is a big plus to the RSX. I like the look too. I am going to water proof it right off the bat. Ordering the snorkel kit. What other things should be done to new units? Looks like the early clutch and coil issues seem to be sorted on newer units?

For reference the other unit that I am considering in an RZR but the local dealer is less than ideal.
