610i charging problem

I just finished repairing my no charging problem with my receintly aquired 2007 610i thanks to the advice posted here. It was the two fuse blocks. The fuses were so badly corroded that several of the fuses could not be removed. It appears that the plating on the new contacts has been changed to gold plating. I have several choice opinions of the design engineer of this little item. The fuse blocks are bolted through the front "firewall" in an almost impossible location behind the front left shock. Had they used a couple of lousy studs I would have saved a pound of knuckle meat. Also the location of the fuseblock is almost directly below the drain hole of the storage tray that sets above it so any water or moisture will run through it onto the fuseblock. I will be installing a drain hose on that little item and relocating the fuseblock off the firewall. Plus adding grease to the fuses. When I talked to the dealer about this issue he asked me if the Gator had been used on a dairy farm or hog farm, which it appeareantly had. There seems to an issue with the uric acid in this type of enviornment that goes after the electrical systems. Makes me think what other issues I will be dealing with in the future. Anyway it was cheaper than replacing the voltage regulator or the stator.

I have operated a Kawasaki 2510 Mule for about 9 years and am considering an update purchase. I am considering the JD825i, Polaris Ranger 500 and the Mule 4110. Mechanical reliability is a key consideration for me. Would be interested in forum members experience with 825i relative to competitive machines. I am concerned that the JD warranty is substantially shorter than competitive vehicles....there has to be a reason for the shorter term...what's your history with 825i vs others?

Thanks in advance...Shink4

825i HELP ! How can I remove the starter?

$

My starter has a squeal when spinning down. I have removed the outer CVT housing cover, gained access to the two starter bolts and removed them, and cannot see how the starter is going to come up out of the cavity it is in. I can barely get my hand down in there. It is between the engine and the transmission, with the injection system above it and the inner CVT cover beside it on one end, and alternator on the other end. PLEASE don't tell me I have to pull the inner half of the CVT housing, that means pulling both clutches. I guess I need a manual.
Can anyone summarize what I need to do to get the starter out? Thanks!!!

Missouri farm - a lot of John Deere green - 3 tractors, 2 mowers and 3 Gators [4x2, 6x4 and an '11 825i]. Enjoying them all especially the 825i. Always looking for upgrades, service tips and learning from others experiences.

The 825i has front rack, split windshield, hard top, soft cab w/doors. Love the heat from the radiator in the winter .... hate it in the summer!

2000 John Deere Electric Turf Slow starting in forward

When in forward positing: Machine is very weak until the pedal is press all the way down
When in reverse: Machine is strong from start to finish.

Adjusting the pedal only changes the power in the forward position when all the way pressed to the floor.

Is there an adjustment that i can make somewhere else to increase the forward power.

Can i change the brushes in the electric motor to correct the problem or is this even possible (2 part questions)?

thank you

825i S4 overhead stereo

After being disgusted with the cost of mounting options for a stereo in my gator, I made my own. I formed the profile with some cardboard and transfered that to 3/4in ply. I botched the original roll bar placement so I had to redo the first panel. Stereo in front, light switches in the second drop down.

made the top and bottom panels, bondo-ed the screw holes, and sanded it all down. Then coated in spray on bedliner from the can.

Put in a sheet metal panel for the switches (which will get replaced after hunting season with a better looking / bent / cut one) and fuses. Wanted easy access to the fuses. Put in the stereo and my fire department radio.

LED strips for a dome light. I am surprised and VERY pleased with these. They put off a great deal of light. But the sticky side leaves something to be desired. So I stapled them up.

U bolts from the top to hold her up and a holder for my iphone to play tunes.

Thinking of trading in my 825i for and 850i

Maybe just wishing here, but in the back of my mind I have an urge to trade in my 2011 825i for a new 850i. I am just starting to do a bit of research but the clutch has really gotten my down on my 825. I am constantly worried about it getting locked up again where I can’t get it out of gear (or into gear). This has happened to me on multiple occasions and at one point had to be towed about 10 miles. I mainly use the machine for around the property and will really miss the huge bed, but the open clutch housing has let me down enough that it might be worth the trade. I trail ride 5 or 6 times a year and the 825 will go anywhere I want to go as long as there is no water or mud. If it even thinks I am going to get it wet the clutch will seize.

Does anyone here have any thoughts of I wish I had (or had not) traded an 825 to an 850? I get that many folks are thinking that these machines are used for 2 different purposes but in my mind if the clutch was not a problem and I could take mine into a bit of water/mud and not be worried about the alternator/clutch/air intake/… getting water I would not even think about changing machines.

From what I have been reading so far of the 850 it does pretty good in the water/mud but will probably need to be snorkeled.

What do folks here think?

New member needing assistance

Happy to be a member of this site. From what I can tell, everyone really wants to help anyone with questions or problems.
I finally got my first Gator (6X4) and need help with two things:
Verify year and model (S/N: W006X4X061920) I believe it is a 2002 model.
Also, the previous owner replaced the voltage regulator because of a starting problem. It worked fine when I first got it last week, but now it does the same as before. Clicking when you turn the key. The lights work, so it doesn't seem like the battery.
Any ideas of what I should be checking? I just don't really want to fix it by parts replacement.
Thank you for any help.
