Im new to the forum. I've had a Trail Gator for years. I bought this 6x4 Trail Gator new in October'98. It's a hardworking farming, hunting, riding Gator.
This throttle issue has been long term. I've done all the maintainence my self.
She's never been to the shop as I've had no major issues, except this chronic power application issue.
Start, warmup idle are normal. Driving off is fine. When I get to "mid level" accelerating the throttle/accelerator peddle produces a twitchy, jerky input to the engine. I have run with the cargo box UP and observed what I think is the governor arm flipping in and out as this twitch jerky behavior occurs, despite the spring attached . The throttle cable moves smoothly, the engine makes full Power . I cannot operate easily at slower medium range speed without this jumpy Jerky engine behavior. Going over rough terrain slowly makes this worse.
Though she's 14, she's well maintained and works hard. I Do regular oil changes, she's had a new belt and chains in last year or so. I replaced the cargo lift relays yesterday, cleaned undercarriage and blew out all debris from nooks and crannies.
Is there a "Carb Kit" or "Governor/Carb Kit" or other adjustment to smooth out the mid range acceleration issue?
Thanks y'all

Hello,
This is my first time posting on the forum, and I have an issue hopefully one of you great members could shed some light on for me. I have a John Deere RSX 850i. I have had the machine for a little over a year and have 90 hours on it and 500 miles. It has been a great machine up until recently. My brother was using it one weekend and told me it would die at random on him. He said sometimes at idle and sometimes either going up or down hills regardless of grade. I drove it numerous times since then and did not notice anything. This weekend I went for a ride all weekend and on the way down had very hard rain and it rained most of the night. Upon riding he next day I had it die the first hour going up small hills and down not sure if the incline plays a role or just when it happened. This happened about 8 times. Upon riding the rest of the afternoon I experienced no issues. Later that night while I had it idling it died once again on me. I did notice the instrument cluster has some slight fog in it, but my dads gator has the same issue with fog and no problems. These machines have so much electronics on it I do not know what the issue is and the warranty just expired. Any and all help would be great. I also checked all fluids and they are good.

This is one reason I went crazy with LED lights on my Gator. Half the time it's for driving and the other half my Gator is a mobile lighting source. The flood light bar in the center and flood pods on both sides provide bright even light and the multiple light sources minimize shadows when working.

So I really put my rig through it's paces yesterday out hunting. Had to go through some pretty old grown up trails, over saplings, fallen logs, and pretty good mud holes to get to a downed wild hog. It was flawless.
Last night we went out riding some trails and made a crossing on the edge of a small pond. My S4 pulled through it much better than my buddies Polaris.
While going up the next hill, I got stuck. What I thought was my rear tires spinning was the belt. Some time in my riding, my belt housing breather was knocked loose and was basically just hanging. So my belt housing sucked up a decent little drink of water.
My buddy's Polaris had a drain plug to drain such mishaps. I was a little disappointed my Deere didn't. Long story short, we opened the housing and sat with the rig running about 3k RPM out of gear for 30 minutes + waiting on the belt to dry out. And now it is a pain to get out of gear.
What do you do in such a situation? There seems to be little in the way of a trail fix for this other than sit and wait. I will be trying to seal up the housing better this week, that is for sure.

What are the cons of wheel spacers. I just order a 2 inch bracket lift for the rear on my rsx850i from solid metal works and they said nothing about needing a spacers. So lone be hold I get it installed which I think is the right way since I didn't get any instructions. And my shock is touching my tire.

After sitting in a shed for most of the summer, I started my 2004 4x2 Gator. Wouldn't run but a few minutes and wouldn't take any load. Found rat-chewed fuel line. Replaced but no help. Replaced fuel pump and filter. Will crank right up and run smoothly at idle for about 3 minutes then cut off like someone turned it off. Pulled carb and cleaned. Checked spark. All look good. Still will not take any load and cuts off after 3 minutes. Let it sit for 5 minutes and it cranks up again. Any suggestions?

Looing for answers:
Just got the Deere Long range light kit for my '13 rsx trail. I wanted to roof mount it since it is not capable of being mounted on the front of the trail model. It was NOT plug and play unless you got the bm24089 switch box kit. WHY WOULD I want another switch bank on my roll bar when it could be mounted in the dash with the rest of the switches???? I modified the harness that came with it for the grille mounting which contained the relay, fuse and appropriate connectors for dash mounting. I removed the light leads and fish the other wiring harness thru the cage and spliced on to the harness containing the appropriate connectors.
Now the question:
Im looking at adding the mid range light kit. Has any one else installed this and can you tell me how many and what connectors the kit comes with???
Thanks

Should a person disconnect the battery after making modifications to the intake and/or the exhaust so the ECU can re-think itself? I know this is a givin when doing mods on a car or truck.

Always looking to support vendors that support our forum. Discount showed me why we should use them. After determining which tires I wanted to purchase I found the lowest price on Discount's website. I went to my local DT store and they honored the web direct pricing on my tires. They ordered them for me with no shipping charges and made an appointment for installation that was kept on time. They even let me take the time to do some shock tuning while my unit was lifted. When completed, the technician even offered to help me load my unit and it was pouring rain at the time. I couldn't ask for a better experience (well except for the pouring rain!). Thanks to Discount for being a supporting vendor and to my local shop for all of their assistance. I recommend using Discount Tire whenever you can.

Mornin everyone
825i starter been noisy a while, finally gator wouldn't turnover one day so replaced the starter .
Turns out there must be more than starter bushing going wrong.
I can't get any power to the starter solenoid, jumper and she fires up but can't excite the starter with the key.
Tore everything apart and checked all fuses I could find and all looks good.
I can't get it to turn over by jumping at the ignition , it clicks in the dash but that's all.
Any ideas?

Question have a 2012 Gator and the oil ran low and shop says i need new one? It's $1800? Question is can you get these rebuilt and would it be worth doing that? Or getting new motor? If it wouldn't be worth rebuilding, does anyone know a place that might buy the old one?
Located near Mobile, Alabama
Any help would be appreciated!

Hello,
I just bought 2014 825i with stereo mounting kit. Was under the impression that any stereo could be installed into the kit. After spending $60.00 on a radio from Wal-Mart. You only have two wires power and ground. Well the radio was not getting power because the harness was not matching the radio. Long story short I need to know how to wire the memory wire (yellow on radio) to the harness or gator. My presets disappear every time I turn off the ignition.
Thanks!

I have an older gator 6x4 5/95 with the kawasaki fd620d engine. I hear the motor spinning on the starter but the solenoid doesnt kick the gears in. I have checked connnections for days. I put a new solenoid on. It still has the same problem. Most think it is not the red fusible links. I have just a red pos. Wire on the starter solenoid. I only have the black (neg.) grounded to engine. I dont want to spend lots of money to fix it. Voltage Regs.are exp. Along with CDIs etc. I am disabled and cant walk to my hunting blind. There obviously is power to the starter. Any troubleshooting comments would be deeply appreciated.
Thanks

Hi,
Just wondering if any Gator owners have a CB installed and what are you using for an antenna mount. Looking for an antenna mount that I can attach to the cargo rail.
Thanks for any responses.

Our 825i is our second Gator. It was purchased new in May 2012 and built Oct,2011. I guess that makes it a 2011. It's our second. Our first was a 2010 620. My wife claims it's her's but she lets me use it:)
