Time frame to replace float valve?

$

Greetings,

I have a 2007 Gator TX with a Kawasaki FJ400D engine. This machine has about 2300 hours on it. It runs well overall. Recently when the guys were out with it they said that it had a large backfire like a shotgun and was spitting and sputtering. They said that it only backfired once. It recently had the oil changed, fuel filter and a new spark plug (NGKBPR2ES) within the last 10 hours. I checked the compression after they brought it in and was at 135psi. I topped off the oil as it was about 1/2. ( I don't think it was using / losing any just wasn't at the right spot after the oil change). The air filter seems good.
They have been out using it a few hours and have no complaints as of yet of it backfiring.

So here is my question. I know that B&S V-Twin engines will develop a wear spot around the float valve which will not seal properly letting gas into the engine when at rest. Is it possible at this amount of hours on this gator that a wear spot has developed on this carburetor which may have led to a backfire? I know these are completely different engines and completely different carburetors but I was just curious if anyone has ever seen this float valve wear with gators or other small Kawasaki engines in golf carts etc.

Thanks for any replies
Sean

Plastic Front-end waxing

I'm sure this has been discussed before, but I don't know exactly how to search. What is everybody using to wax or polishing the plastic front and fenders and the dump bed? I've been using a silicone based spray polish, but am wondering if there's something that works better and lasts longer. Thanks in advance for any advice.

1994 6x4 gas FD620D overheating, why

My 94 gas 6X4 has started overheating. I replaced the muffler and decided to check the water pump while the exhaust was off. I removed the cover and all inside looks new and very clean. Impeller looked new, vanes on impeller perfect And the pin is in place on the impeller. You spin the engine over and impeller rotates. Cleaned cover and pump surfaces put on a new gasket on a closed it up. Topped off radiator and all seemed fine. Ever since the temp light comes on after about 15 mins. After cooling off I removed the radiator cap and it’s full. Ran with radiator cap off and it’s moving coolant. Put cap back on and it did it again. Changed thermostat, no help. Found bleeder plug, bled it and fluid moving with cap off. Put cap on, ran 15 mins, hot again ! Took thermostat out, same thing. Removed new exhaust and checked pump again. All seems well. Bled again, same deal..15 mins and hot again.Elec fan comes on but engine doesn’t cool off. Frustrated !! Any ideas??

Gator 620i Kawasaki Engine Unavailable?

Hello! We are working on a 2008 JD Gator with the Kawasaki FD620D engine, Fuel Injected. The complete engine number is FD620D-CS26. The E/NO: FD620D472505.

The engine was pulled from the gator for customer complaint of excessive blue smoke, running on one cylinder. He is asking us to replace the complete engine.

John Deere's complete engine part number is MIA12905. This number comes back as "unavailable" when we tried to order. Their tech support system suggested ordering part number "AUC17164." We assumed this would be a complete engine, but it showed up as only a short block consisting of a block, crank, rods/pistons, assembled.

I tried calling Kawasaki small engine support number, and the tech support person refused to talk to me. He said John Deere bought all the rights from Kawasaki for these engines, and he has no information to share. When I called our local dealer, they suggested calling Kawasaki direct. Sigh.

Has anyone ran into this problem? It seems like John Deere is dropping support for this fuel injected engine. We recently purchased a complete carburetor-fueled engine for a newer gator with no trouble. Are these engines troublesome enough that they don't provide them anymore as a complete engine? It seems like nobody wants to say what's going on, and we're left in the dark.

Any information would be helpful. I'd like to avoid piecing together an engine with this new short block using our heads & fuel system, as I suspect issues with this fuel system since this gator has ran so poorly for years....hesitating, stumbling, hard-starting, and massive issues with fuel dilution in the engine oil.

Thank you...Nate

I am having a couple issues with the 2015 825i I bought from the original owner a couple months ago. I thought I was upgrading from a 2013 Ranger 500EFI that I have used to plow 2 long driveways with for the past 6 years but right now I have gone back to the Ranger for plowing because the gator can't get out of it's own way.

One issue is with the plow but I'll save that for another post.

One of my driveways is crushed stone and is on a mild incline. The Gator really struggles to go up that incline with or without snow on it. I have the 4x4 switched on and the indicator is lit on the display but the back tires are spinning all the way up the driveway. I currently have it in the barn up on 4 jack stands.

I have figured out that you need to push the throttle down a bit to get the front diff solenoid to kick on (something about an anti-wedging fix that was applied to later models). With the engine running and in gear and 4x4 on I push the pedal until I hear the solenoid click and the front wheels do not turn. I found a couple other posts that mentioned something about the actuator rod in the solenoid not being long enough to engage but I have not checked this on mine.

One thing I have noticed is that with it in gear if I spin the back wheels by hand the front driveshaft does not turn. Should it? I think I saw it turning when I first put it up on the jack stands but I can't say for sure. Could my problem be at the transaxle in the rear or should I look up front first? Don't really want to start pulling it all apart until I have a better idea of where to look.

New to the forum! Thanks for a excellent resource. I have a xuv550 gator. Jumps out of high gear. Shifts easy in out of every gear. Low and reverse work fine. Replaced both shift cables. Removed shift cables manually put in high gear and still jumps out. If you hold a little pressure on the shift handle seems to stay in gear. Any recommendations appreciated. Thanks

House Moving and relocation can be overwhelming, even for those who have relocated many times in the past. There are so many uncertainties throughout the process, including finding and hiring a good genuine packers and movers company. You got to plan, prepare and choose a rightly placed moving company to ensure you good reach its destination safe, sound and in cost-effective manner. And therefore, you can’t really take chances when hiring a packer and mover company and regret later.
Obviously, the packers and movers have a very crucial and important role in helping you get relocated. If you end up choosing a mediocre packer and mover company or a moving company that’s not genuine and authentic in the first place, then whole relocation experienced can easily get ruined.

Clutch/belt adjustment possible?

Clutches look like a super basic version of a snowmobile, but nothing looks adjustable, the ramps/helix looked scratched but pretty smooth, also not the full length(smooth 2/3 to 3/4 full travel) buttons look fine. Can I take off the primary clutch (dust) cover without removing the clutch to inspect/clean? I cant believe how open to the elements every thing is back there.

Mushy ride / hard to turn

$

I bought the 2009 850d used about three years ago. Appeared to be in good shape and has served me well for easy lawn chores. But, now hauling wood. From day one, it's had a bit of a saggy ride even empty, seems more saggy on the left side. I notice lately when I am hauling firewood, loaded down, it's close to bottomed out. Of course, depends on how much and how heavy the wood. But wondering if it's 'normal' for a Gator to have a pretty mushy ride and if there is anything one can do about it and if one 'should' do something about it. I can live with it if it would be an expensive fix, lol. I am not where my Gator is or I would look. Is it shocks or springs or both?

This Gator has also always been kind of hard to turn. No biggie for me but curious if it's 'normal.' To make a big, slow turn, you gotta tug on that steering wheel.

Thanks for feedback on what is 'normal' for a Gator's ride.
