I have a 2016 xuv 590i with 12 hrs on it. Had to take it back to the dealer for a throttle cable recal and I showed them that when you first take off, it shudders and real jerky until the rpm? s get up a bit. There response... put some more hrs on it for the clutch isn?t even broke in yet. I?ve heard of engine break in period, but never a clutch. Thoughts??

broken gator frame --- fast cheap fix

I bought an old 6x4 a few years ago and loved my gator right up until recently. It was originally used hard on a farm but has had light use and been stored inside since I've had it. The floorboard has been rusted out for some time but I noticed a couple weeks ago it seemed loose jointed and found the frame cracked all the way across, where the suspension attaches. Upon closer inspection I could hardly believe that with a name like John Deere, They would have used such a chintzy thing as a stamped tin frame no thicker than a car hood. I thought of plating the whole underside with 1/8 steel but that still would not offer much rigidity to prevent flexing. I decided to put a 3" angle iron frame under the whole thing. I did weld a 1/8 plate about 18" long over the break itself.
I started by building a wood mock up just to match the angles etc, then layed out, cut and welded the galvanized 3" angle iron (retired highway sign posts) , welded on and drilled angle iron mounts to match the existing holes in the frame, where the front axle mounts on. We put gator up on jackstands, jacked the front of the frame up in place and bolted it loosely. Then I jacked the rear of the frame up, drilled holes through the new and old frame at the same time, just ahead of the rear axle and bolted it together. I intended to weld and drill angle iron for center frame mounts but in the haste to see how it worked, forgot and will have to add them later. A scrap boat trailer tire tread section (no wire belts) provided rubber body mounts. I had thought about cutting and bending the angle iron to go all the way back under the original rear part of the frame , but thought this way, without bends might be more rigid. I can always remove and change it later if I want to.
I also originally intended to cut off the pointy end which sticks out past the front, weld a heavy plate to the front of the gator front axle mounting frame and bolt it to the underframe, but decided to maybe weld a tow hook or, put trailer ball there for someone that can't back a trailer well.
The whole project took less than 21/2 days and a good part of the first day was spent figuring it out, For those of you that worry I lost 3" of ground clearance, I don't care, I'll just find a path with no bumps higher than 5 inches.
Below are the photos of the broken frame, rotted out floorboard, frame being layed out and the wood prototype and angle iron frame welded together.
One thing I learned from this experience was if I went to buy another one, it would be some other make with a real frame in it.

620I with terrible front drive shaft noise

My Gator is an 08 620i. I recently noticed a slight roar coming from the front end. Sounds a lot like a bad bearing. With the machine in neutral and giving it gas, it does not do it. Had the machine on jack stands and all wheel bearings seem fine. It sounds like the noise is coming from the front drive shaft towards the front end. Hard to diagnose because of all the metal flooring. I am sure there is a bearing the shaft fits into and if it turns out bad, how bad of a job is it to replace it? I have had the front axles out and both are good. I greased the front of that front shaft but that made no difference at all. You can reach under the machine and grab the front drive shaft and it seems loose. I really need this machine because deer season starts here in two weeks. Scared to drive it to much until I can find my problem.

825i lost top speed and doesnt rev has high

Working on my 825i and when I am going down the road I can only go 34-36 mph. The tach is only rev to 5500-5800 rpms. So I figured the belt was worn enough to cause the problem since it has a little over 1400 miles on it. But put the belt on the other night and test rode and it did the same thing. So I jacked up the rear end tonight and started and put in gear and it will rev up to 6400 rpms or so and goes 45 mphs on the jack stands. I have good fuel pressure and no check engine light on.

825i Clutch Problem FIXED!!!

Many thanks to the JD Clutch Doc team for fixing my clutch. I was on my second clutch from the dealer in only 80 hours and it was doing the same as the original. The clutch would no longer open all the way at idle causing a problem with shifting. Dealer was at a loss and wanted to change it AGAIN with no guarantees.
Don't mess with the dealer anymore. Send it to JD Clutch Doc and it will come back better than new. I have had an opportunity over the last 3 weeks to dyno-test this baby and it is still working flawlessly. Super smooth starts (which it never even did when new) and no problems shifting, no matter how hot the machine is.
Got a clutch problem?? Send it to JD Clutch Doc.
Thanks again guys!!

Progator 2WD D Wiring Diagram (stalling Fault)

Hi Guys,

I'm looking for an electrical diagram for a Diesel 2WD Pro Gator Serial number TC2030A060438

I'm trying to diagnose this issue.

Once it has warmed up and ran for about 30mins, Every time the engine cooling fan turns on the engine shuts down. Once this happens you need to turn the key off, restart it and can go again until the fan turns on again and the same thing happens.

Back story:
-Alternator was recently replaced due to an over charging issue (the problem was occurring before this)
-With multimeter connected to red fuel stop solenoid wire, no dramatic voltage drop can be seen when the engine cuts out. goes from charge rate to battery voltage
- Black earth wire to fuel stop solenoid has been monitored, earth is not lost when engine stalls
- oil pressure light is working

Thanks in Advance

590i vs 860i

Been looking to purchase a new gator. Having hard time deciding which model is right for me. My application will be 80% farm work and 20% play/trail. I have driven both and seem to like the 590 more but light the extra available hp that comes with the 860. The 599 seems to roll out with less effort and the 860 has the power but you have to get it above the 4000rpm mark to do good. Equipped identically they are 3k difference. What are y?alls thoughts?

Just bought a left over 2016. Ordered a kfi 4500 winch. And bought a warn controller to direct plug in dash. It still will not work. I mounted winch and plugged in to spot up front. What else do I need to do. I thought it was ready except for winch.

Exhausted Owner

I'm an owner of a 2013 JD 825i Gator. There was a problem with the fuel regulator that I got fixed. I thought that this would cure the exhaust coming into the cab. It did not solve the exhaust problem. I was wondering if there are any JD Gator owners out there that have had similar problems and came up with a solution. My unit has only 280 mi. on it.
Thanks for any answers.

Full big gun exhaust for 13-15 Gator. In decent shape. Could use new decals and paint but fully functional. Does increase low end grunt by a lot. Will ship. Has quiet core inserts. Takes a couple hours to install. 350 with shipping. Obo.

Wrecked 2013 855D bot at auction.

So this poor baby got smacked hard & I hope no one was hurt. When I first went to see it on the copart lot in Columbus, OH, I could see most of the damage and was ready to walk away, but the thing was, after sitting outside for several months it started right up! And the engine sounded good, display said only 930miles, the bed went up and down but when I put it in gear it didn't do anything - (didn't know about the variable tran needing about 1500 rpms to go into gear) Auction the next day got pulled for some reason, but a week later it was back listed and at auction I bot it for 4100. So a guy said he could fix it, but after trying gave up, so took it to a body shop with a frame machine, but he called and said the bad news, no can do. At this point I'm discouraged and down, a whole new frame cost was over 1000, plus labor to switch everything over.
But I found a welder who said he thought he could fix it, and so it took a bunch of parts but it's now almost like perfect cepting the hood doesn't fit quite right.
And then when I was driving it 6miles to a friends the drive belt blew and thank goodness it was just the belt. Getting the housing off - 11 bolts, several in very tight spots was a bear, but the new belt went on nice.

Dats my story - want to take good care of this baby. :)............posted a picture.

Be safe, Moose

Engine Break

Does anyone know if the JD850i has an engine break? Someone is interested in buying mine and he ask if it would hold back coming a mountain like a Honda or did you have to give it gas to get it to hold back. I haven't had it on a mountain to try. Any help would be appreciated.

Picked up a used 860i

Hey guys, just picked up a used 2016 rsx 860i. Had about 70 hours on it. Got it for 8,200. Seems like a good price. Real excited about it. I'm currently in the process of putting a backseat in and a rear roll cage so the kids can go on some light trail rides.

I would like to make the suspension a little more soft. It has the adjustable fox shocks. I don't quite understand the whole preload thing yet with shocks. I'm trying to see if I should turn thit collar up or down. I don't have a spanner wrench yet. Have any of you put a roll cage on the back? I haven't finished it up quite yet, but I'm planning on bolting to the bumper and to the front of the bed over the frame so I can easily remove it if needed, and also this will allow me to use the dump bed to allow me access for servicing it. Any thoughts on this, or forseable problems?

Looking for Sport seats for RSX. Mine came in with the regular seats. Dealer gave me a huge discount so it wasn't a big deal. Called PRP Seats, but they no longer make the seats for the Gator.
