I have been shopping for a UTV for the farm and drove the 2013 XVU 825i model. I was impressed with the heavy steel construction vs other brands I have drove. The 825i also runs very smooth, the exhaust/engine noise was below average of the UTV's I've drove and the 825i has plenty of power for my use. Really overall I feel it was one of the best UTV's I drove the last couple weeks.That said every UTV I've look at Polaris Rangers, John Deere XVU's,
Yamaha Rhinos I get on the internet to do some research and all I can find is BAD news? Overheating,breaking parts, this that and more on all models? I want a UTV for light farm use and some trail riding that will no fall part or have tons of problems. No river swimming/ no ramping/ just normal day to day life on a farm Is the 825i worth buying or should I just move down the road to another model?

Well I was out for memorial day weekend. My first real ride since loosening the suspension way up. Well I was making a 180 turn blipped the gas and over I went. I broke the ass end loose and it dropped in a rut and caught and I was along for the ride. No major issues. we had to pull the plugs cause oil got in to one cylinder but other than a few scratches shes all good. I need to find middle ground with the suspension now.

Hey there, it seems like my belt slips on my gator way to easily! I was wondering if this is common? it doesnt seem like im in that much water, like barely running in under the doors and the belt starts slipping. Is the belt guard suppose to be water tight? I mean they did forget to plug my fan in at the factor so they could have forgot a seal or something!

Well I got to see how the gator rated this weekend. 3 days with a buddy and his razor. I am pleased with the out come. The setting was all woods. lots of mud tight turns and ruts. The gator had no problem closing the gap and when leading I had no problem holding my position out front. I defiantly made up ground on the up hills. In the tight trails it seemed like i really had to drive it to keep up. I had the suspension set soft. springs about an inch from top and dampening at click 4. The bumpier the trail got the gators fox suspension really helped me out. The heavy sticky mud was no problem for me either and when we got to water the razor seemed to get its operator a lot more wet. All in all for an all around machine the gator seems to surprise everyone. And when we ran out of fire wood there was no question what machine to take because the razors "deck" isn't good for much. LOL my buddy wants a 900 razor now because he can't beat me flat out. Good weekend happy with the gator. It may not be for everyone but its the only one for me....

Has anyone used the gator accessory wiring. I am told that the first spot on the headlight switch is for accessory lighting but I do not see any plugs. I found a plug under the dash but I do not know where it goes. I also found extra plugs over the battery that I do not know what they can be used for. My local dealer isn't up to speed on the rsx so I turn to you my bro's in the field?

Glad I found this forum. My gator will crank and idle fine, but when I try to go forward or reverse it dies. Took the carburetor off and cleaned it, added clean gas, blew out the fuel line, changed the fuel filter, same result. Could it be the fuel pump? Anyone have any experience with this issue? Thanks...

By the way, the model number is W004X2X100658. How do I find out what year/model it is?

I have been looking for a site where I can read comments from other gator fans. I've only had my 825i since last November. I have an issue with it already. I has a clattering noise & starts surging when you take your foot off gas petal. does any one else have this problem. Thanks

Just got a new 850I, gas cap leaked bad even with half tank sloshing around. I put another gasket on the cap ( total of 2) on the cap and this fixed the leak. Evidently something about the threads does not allow just the thickness of 1 gasket to seal.

Hi,

My stepfather just purchased a new Gator 825. In high gear, it will only do 10 mph at about 4k rpm. Low gear is even slower. It appears that there is something not right about an adjustment or something to increase the gear ratio in high gear mode. Any comments welcomed. He is going to call the dealer on Monday, but it is Sunday and I would like to see if there is anything simple to consider.

When the Gator is driving the belt will sometimes fall off the clutch and is rubbing on the bottom part of the muffler. I checked all the bolts and everything is there. Is the clutch not pulling the belt in far enough? Let me know what your thoughts are. Thanks for the help.

Hello all just recently bought a 04 HPX Gator 4X4 so I figured I better join a Gator forum so I can bother people with all the we've heard it all before questions I'm sure I'll have the more I play with this thing.

Sure is a shame you can't lock up the front end like the back, from what I've read you can with an 06. My brother already got it stuck so we had to be rescued ,soon as the belt got wet it was all over. Looking for a winch for it now I'm sure it would be a worth while investment.

Other than a drain on the battery, does it hurt to have the key In the first position so you can listen to the radio? I don't want to hurt the electronic ignition, fuel injection. Or the dash by leaving the key in this position without the engine running.

Any one have any experience with one of the RSX electric power steering kits, like the ones being sold on ebay? Are they hard to install? Work well? Steering to light, too heavy or just have a poor feel to the steering? Are they reliable? What do you guys think?

Hey yall I figured i'd say something I just signed up because i've been thinking about getting one of the new rsx 850s. I love john deer and would love to see some more at the mudholes and around just in general. I'll be looking to do some goodies to it as some can imagine. I've kind of looked around the forum but not much, anything I should know about the 850i? Heard it had some problems but wanted to ask first before assuming. Thanks!

Would like to say hello. This is the first time I have been in any forum and my first time off roading. I just bought 2013 RSX85I, and could not be more happy with the Machine. I am sorry but I have returned again. I still am chasing the s/n of the gator which I was told to be a 2009, which has proved to be in error. I looked at the Transaxle and found the s/n to bee 048330, and the JD p/n to be 133460, of which I have been unable to locate in any of the parts breakdowns. So I really am up the creek. I will keep trying though.
I was curious as to if anyone can tell me the correct drive belt for another gator. The S/N is WX046688. That would be question one. Question two is can any one tell me how to keep this gator from jumping out of gear? ou can hold it in gear and all is fine, but take your hand off the handle and it will jump out of gear. Any Ideas?

Has anyone had there machine running hot? We got 150km on our gator and the rad is clean, it use to run when we first got it up to the first solid bar on the display. recently its been running with the temp gauge maxed out the fan kicks in one bar goes out then repeats itself. took it back to the dealer they say its because we are running it in high range all the time all we are doing is trail riding and opening it up on stretches. I don't think driving in low would be better if anything worse? Its a new product so I thought other peoples input with what there machine is doing may be good input due to the dealer not being much help Thanks for your time
