Being a trusting soul, I bought an older 6x4 from someone that only owned it a few months. One of us was conned.
He said it needed a part, pointing at the water pump. Sure enough, the water pump leaked, which turned out to be a simple fix, as the float pin holding the impeller on was missing. Now that I've fixed that, I find that the engine is seized, or at least the starter is unable to budge it. Makes sense now that I know the water pump was not working.
Curiously, the clutch cover has some holes it it, and I'm now thinking someone tried to rotate the crank with something like a big pipe wrench on the flywheel. Someone besides me knew the engine was seized!
Anyway, I plan to remove the flywheel cover and try from that side.
Any hints on things to try are appreciated.
