I would like to tap into the collective wisdom of this group. I recently ended up in charge of maintenance for a John Deere Gator 4x6, vin W006X4X015998.
This week, we started to have a problem with it over revving. When we start the Gator, the throttle goes wide open (over-revs), and I have to either turn it off or reach back and manually hold the throttle closed. This happens without us pressing the accelerator pedal. The linkage between the accelerator pedal and the carburetor is good. It is like a spring or something that holds the throttle closed until the accelerator is pressed to increase RPMs is missing.
Have any of you had this problem or know how to fix it? I have been looking for a schematic or technical manual online and cannot find anything.
