Just picked up the new 590i S4 with power steering last Thursday after owning a 550S4 (2012). Although I only put roughly 25 miles on the new unit, I am very impressed with the motor and steering. Steering is a breeze and the motor is very smooth. I was able to obtain a top speed of 50mph with four passengers and it appears the motor still has more power to give. There appears to be some sort of speed governor that limits the motor as soon as you hit 50mph. It is not quick as it takes some time to hit top speed but night and day compared to the 550. Just for info if anyone is considering this new upgrade.
