Engine troubles

I apologize if this has been posted before, if it has please send me a link.

I have a 2006 HPX Gator. She's beat up and has a lot of hours but still pulling. It was running like garbage-sluggish and way down on power-so I replaced the carburetor. Like it was brand new it took off like a rocket, comparatively speaking. A week later it's sluggish again so I adjust the fuel mixture screws and brought it back to where it was, but now with a hesitation from idle to open throttle.
Another week goes by and it's sluggish again. Again I adjust the carb and it got better but not by much. Now cold starts are a pain again, I can't get it to full speed, and even with nothing but me in it I'll slow to 5 or 6 mph up any sort of hill.
I richen and lean the mixture but it has no effect.
Suggestions?

Thanks

Hello, I am a new member. I live in southeast Oh. I have owned a JD product for many years. But I we do have a serious problem. Has anyone had problems with the factory installed clamp on the fuel line connection at/on the plastic gas tank tip/nozzle breaking/cutting the tip of the the plastic gas tank nozzle on XUV 550 gators ONLY? If you own or know someone who owns one please check them. Last summer 2014 a 550 I bought two months earlier burst into flames 5 hours after I parked it. I parked the gator in front of my garage. It burst into flames and destroyed the gator and my garage and contents. $50.000,00 in damages, complete lost. I lost heirloom tools from my father in law who was a carpenter. So I don't need to tell you how I feel about those tools, planer and joiners.

The replacement XUV 550 is sitting in my drive with a severed gas tank tip. The factory installed clamp damaged the tip of the gas tank. I believe there is a connection between the factory installed clamp and unexplained fires.. There are reports at wwwsaferproducts.gov of XUV 550 bursting into flames minutes, hours even days after being parked. All evidence is burnt. I am not a mechanic, so the backfiring and hard to start problems was something I wasn't expecting. There is a smell of gas but we carry gas cans we do thing we love to do with our gators so with only 25 hours on your machine you are not thinking gas tank problems. Or at any hour for that matter. Escaping gas fumes from a plastic gas tank and static electric on a warm summer day what do we get gentlemen/ ladies? At this time I have been offered a "FITTING" repair free of charge from JD. The problem there is, what fitting? I have a severed gas tank tip.

I have sent pictures to JD at every level and not one JD rep has offered to come to my property and look at this problem. I am a retired disabled American who bought this vehicle because it is JD. Because I use this machine in my daily life. I am a small time wanta be farmer with chickens, goats, pheasants, ducks, turkeys and I am a bee keeper. I also plant and take care of a large garden. I cut ,split, haul and stack firewood. JD has not backed me at all. As I stated this is my second Gator. In the last two years I have bought 2 XUV 550 Gators two 300xl riding mowers 1- 125 riding mower and a 181 sthil chain saw plus chain saw chains, oils other parts and services from JD.

My picture shows the plastic gas tank sitting unmolested in it's factory installed place. You can plainly see the severed tip plus stains from leaking gas down the seam of the tank, plus blow back stains around the nozzle base. These stains show that gas has been leaking for some time. At any time my XUV 550 could have went boom with me sitting right on top of that gas tank like my first gator did in June 2014. My rant at this time is WARNING XUV 550 ONLY OWNERS OF THIS DANGEROUS CONDITION. Thanks for reading.

Replacing dashboard switches

I used to have a thread that I kept in my bookmarks but it is somehow gone. It was a fellow who replaced and or added some 3rd. party switches on his Gator 825i. It also had a link to suppliers that had all kinds of them. If anyone can help me that would be awesome. Or if you know where I can go on the net that would help. I did try the search function in the forum home page but no luck. Jack

Gator Power Steering Problem - unintended movement

I have a 2015 825i with power steering. Love the machine. But...today while driving the steering wheel and front tires moved to full lock left without any input from me. I limped back home by man handling the steering wheel to make it go somewhat straight. Now whenever I turn the key switch power on or start the machine the steering wheel and front tires migrate to full lock left in 10-15 seconds. It's been raining here in NC this week and the machine has been exposed to a lot of water and red clay mud. Has anyone seen this before?

Well, I had to try this. I had a Big Mr. Buddy on my boat and on high would run you out of the cabin (18000) BTU. Was wondering how well a little Mr Buddy would work. Of course you have to keep good clearance and fix it so it won't tip over. A old piece of target steel and some black paint and you're in business. Ran around all day and it went out one time. Nothing rough but should work good while plowing and cruising around.

Looking for feedback

Hello everyone, I am new to the world of UTV's, and I am seriously considering picking up a new 860i around the beginning of next year. Only thing that keeps me from committing is the constant barrage of clutch issues. I know things will break eventually, but I do not want something that is going to spend more time at the shop than in the woods.

My primary use will be south eastern US forest trails and some hunting club roads. I am torn between the new Wolverine and the 860, I lean toward the Yami for the name and reliability, but the 700cc single cylinder is a bit outdated and boring. I like the v-twin sound and torque of the 860, and the looks and color scheme are pretty sharp as well, and the price isn't too much more that the Yamaha.

I will admit, I do have a close family member that works in the shop at our local JD store, and he confirmed the 825 was notorious for primary and secondary clutch issues, but does not remember seeing too many 850's in the shop. I am curious if the design has been actually fixed and remedied or will the same issues come up again.

My local store has an 860 on order and should arrive in a week or so for one the employees there, and I am hoping to go have a look and possibly take it for a spin. What I am looking for in the mean time is any and all feedback concerning major issues with the later 850 and 860.

BTW, I LOVE the sound of the Aprilia twin even with the stock muffler.

Cheers

A friend of mine just bought a used 2013 850 RSX. When he shifts to 4 wheel drive the front wheels don't engage but when he shifts to diff lock they engage. Sounds like something electrical to me, any thoughts.

amt 626 no start/cut off

Amt 626 used to start poorly and normally ran with 1/2-2/3 choke. Now it barely runs. Took the fuel pump apart to clean it out. Diaphram still solid but very stretched. A little trash. Went back together fine and will now start on occasion. After allowing it to sit for 30 minutes or so, I can get it to start and idle smooth for about 30 seconds then it shuts off abruptly. CANNOT get it re-started. Took the ignitor wire off and there was much moisture so I dried it off and she fired right up. 30 seconds later, off. Wait 30 minutes and repeat. Overall condition of gator is in poor condition but has done well for next to no maintenance for 20 years.

Time after time after 30 minutes I can crank it up and it'll purr like a kitten until I give it any gas at all. Then it abruptly shuts off and no amount of cranking will get it restarted. Carb issue??
