Just FYI if anybody has a cloudy gas gauge.
For some reason, my gas gauge got very cloudy this winter. I could see through it last fall, but it got totally opaque over the winter. I thought that it was fogged from the inside, but no, it was crazed on the outside. It prys out fairly easily. I took a utility knife and scraped off the hazy part. No good. I then sanded with 600 grit paper. Better, but still cloudy. I didn't have any finer paper, so remembered that under our kitchen sink my wife keeps a "magic eraser". I ran it under water and scrubbed. WOW, it's pretty clear. Next, I took some mild metal polish and buffed it. Better than WOW. I think that it's more clear than when new.
No big deal, but better than buying a new one!
