Water/Fire Equipment on Gator

I've been using an Enduraplas Foam Ranger on my 855D. Besides the obvious you hope you really never need it aspect, having some high pressure water where you normally can't get it easily really is convenient. Much of this isn't new to those using agricultural sprayers.

First the basics. Tank: 100gal, Pump: 100 psi with flow up to 120gpm. Wait a minute. Less than a minute's worth of water? No, the pump is essentially a dewatering/trash type. In reality with full flow, I get about 5-7 minutes of use. The foam injector makes the system about 4 times more efficient which equates to 400gal water equivalent. The unit comes with a river/pond screened suction hose that will quickly fill the tank. It can curl around the top of the unit, but otherwise doesn't store easily on the Gator.

Weight considerations. At 100gal, we already have 835 pounds of load. Add 235 for the unit and probably another 40 for the filled foam tank, we're 110lbs over the rated 1/2 ton bed capacity. It's over more if you put it on an 835/865 unit. Your choice is to either go with the 60 gallon version, not fill up the 100gal all the way, or just ignore the extra weight. Tinkering with it, I've noticed the weight isn't a problem likely for two reasons. First the center of mass is well forward of the rear axle and second, my turbo makes going uphill much easier. I certainly don't want it any heavier.

Mounting. This is where having forks makes it possible. Easy to do lifting when the unit empty. I don't recommend muscling it around with water as you want to secure it fairly precisely in the bed and you can't slide it manually when it's heavy.

Uses. Like getting a fork attachment for your tractor, the list of things you can do grows quickly. Hosing down tall siding, filling animal tanks quickly, dust control, standby for your firepit. Virtually anything you'd use water for, it's now a portable solution. I don't have a water source at the chicken coop. During the winter I've been filling a small tank and using a small electric pump for transfer. This winter, I'll keep the 855D in the heated shop and run out to fill the tank. BTW to keep the water from growing green gungies, put 2 cups of apple cider vinegar per 30 gallons. This unit isn't on a bucket list for everyone, but for me, it fills a shopping list of uses. Next thing will likely be putting on a small trailer to keep the Gator more freed up for other uses.
