New XUVs Cannot be Titled

The ability to title a UTV/ATV/XUV vaires by state. I'm running into an issue for Idaho where their UTV criteria caps the vehicle at 2000 pounds net (without a load in it). Since the newer 835/865 units weigh mone, they can't get a restricted license plate (very handy here). We can still get an off road sticker though. For Idaho, this has been an issue for around 5 years. It's a simple administrative step to increase the cap, but that runs up against the Never UTVer types who want them banned. It seems the political climate is good enough this year for it to happen. Nonetheless, my 865R shows up within a week. I'll have a paid up receipt and Certificate of Origin which I'll put with my vehicle titles in the safe deposit box. In reality, I don't expect it to be an issue where I live. I can just tell the cop I'd be glad to pay the $20 foir a plate if the DMV will sell it to me. I haul a lot of stuff around and like my 855D, this will have an "Amish Triangle" on it. LEOs up our way are cool about the UTVs on the road.

Bottom line, if your state has UTV licensing, and it makes sense to license, make sure you fit all their criteria. I'll also check with USAA to see if I can insure something that can't be titled.
