Greetings to one and all...
First, thank you for this wonderful resource. I've been reading other threads on primary clutch issues, and have learned a lot (enough to be dangerous :P) . After pulling my primary off ( cut 3" length of 1/2" all thread + 2" 9/16 -18 bolt for my puller), and fabricating a holder (2 bolt heads sticking up out of 2x4 to sit in recesses on bottom sheave, rest of my section of 1/2 all thread thru center hole) and then used pipe clamp to spin off spider/top sheave (after heating with propane torch) , I now have full access to replace my flat sided rollers. The guides for the buttons need some smoothing too.
Reason for pulling - hard to shift out of reverse. Been that way for a while, my first time pulling / attempting a clutch rebuild.
Gator is about 700hrs
There was a slight "creak/squeak to the spring" when compressing by hand, spring looks ok (some of the red paint flaked off top/bottom) - will probably replace anyway.
Some questions:
Do you think I can get away with lightly smoothing my cam/weights for the little bump on the corner?
Does anyone have a reference or supplier for the main bushing? I can easily compress it down on 1 side about 1 to 1.5 mm . If I can't get a replacement, I would definitely still run it as is vs a new clutch ($550). But, it would be nice to get a replacement while I do have it out.
Any recommendations on supplier for the rollers - Deere only sells them with the spider ($230)? I've seen Mcmaster-Carr and Carr lane tooling as suggestions on other pages.
Will provide pictures if requested. Thank you very much for you time :)
