It's your friendly neighborhood mechanic again, this time something different.
So my in-laws are moving back to the country in a few months.
Have been looking at buying a gator for a few times, but now they are coming here I want my disabled father in law to get around easily and something I can use aswell.
So I looked yesterday and thought the 590 would be a nice option.
Whent to my boss and asked if we could import it but he did not like the model so thats a no.
So since iam not going for a diesel I got short strawed on a used 550 or a new 560.
In both cases I will order the black steelies and the bench.
However I don't like the 550 at all and it seems like the 560 didn't seem to fix any problems of the 550.
Let's be fair I don't think these engines belong in the xuv series gators at all.
That being said iam a mechanic and can fix them myself easily.
So that is a bit of a non argument.
Laws here forbid you to swap engines but I believe the 18hp can be tuned to 20/21 hp easily by removing restrictors a new exhaust and an aftermarket airfilter.
Maybe some performance parts can be added to get it up to 22 or even 23 hp?
That would certainly please me at least.
Lastly the 550 and 560 don't have fox shocks like the 590.
It's something I would've really liked but that's gone from a 400 dollar option to a 1800 dollar purchase.
Do these fit the 550 or 560 or are there other options?
