Died and won't crank, may have run out of diesel?

A 2009 Gator 850d... was hard to crank (edit: start, not crank) today... drove 100 yards, stopped. I went to do something for awhile and upon return, it won't crank (edit: start, not crank). I looked in fuel tank and saw diesel, but it's not much. I assumed it ran out of diesel but now, not sure. My bro and I could not find a bleed screw or lever or whatever... we unscrewed caps to the injector lines and whatever else we could find that looked like we needed to open it but we never found air. Now, I am wondering if it is something else. It's been running like a top. Since I could see a little diesel in the tank, do you think it's unlikely I ran out of fuel or what?

And if I have to bleed the lines, how?

I saw a youtube of a guy who removed the air cleaner and filled up a spray bottle with fresh diesel, squirted it in there as he cranked on it and it started. He says it's a shortcut, you don't have to bleed lines. But that didn't work either. His was a Kubota skidsteer type.

EDIT: The motor turns over, the starter is working, seems a fuel issue or air in lines.
