I didn't have any luck searching this forum. Has anyone figured out the reason behind the exhaust guide moving up in the head on these FE290D/FE350D single cylinder Kawasaki engines? I have found a lot of results via a generic google search for "kawasaki exhaust guide problems", & it appears to be an issue with a lot of their air-cooled small engines. I have had 3 instances of it so far. The first time it broke the cast-in rocker shaft stands, the last time it bent & broke the exhaust pushrod & damaged the exhaust cam lobe & tappet. The valve stem & guide bore have looked fine each time, no scoring or galling, & the stem-to-guide clearance is fine.
Some people seem to think it is an overheat issue from grass clogging the flywheel cover screen, but that is on lawn mowers - the gators I've had the issues on did not have restricted cooling fan airflow.
Just wondering if anyone has found any preventative solutions that I can apply.
