Hello Im new to the form and really pretty new to the gator. I have an 2015 RSX850i, former Rhino owner, with just about 200 miles on it and all of the sudden Sunday upon startup I noticed a dramatic engine sound change much deeper and less loud, this happened to be after backing up a large hill for about 1/4 mile if that has anything to do with it. As I started out I quickly realized the RPMs were reading much higher than what the engine sounded like it was running and my max speed was about 15 mph. Coming up a hill I wasn't sure it was going to make it before stoping. when I did make it back to the garage the engine at idle was backfiring and idling very rough. At one point the maintenance light was on but when I went out to get in it tonight to see if it was just a fluke or electrical gremlin the light had gone off and it was no longer backfiring however the power loss issue and high rpm had not resolved. Thoughts?? suggestions??? I hate to drag it into the JD dealer as they typically have a month backlog for service and I don't get along well with the local service department. I haven't done anything yet to trouble shoot this mostly because I'm not that familiar with the machine yet. Could I have fowled the plug running it in reverse and that be the cause? Thanks in advance.
some of that may be confusing . originally I backed up the hill no problem. after start up later that day forward was the problem not reverse.
