2012 XUV 550 have to shut off gator to change gears

I have a 2012 XUV 550. I have to shut the Gator off to change gears. and now it also starts in any gear, forward, reverse , and natural. I'm thinking a natural safety switch is the problem. Anybody have a clue if I might be right before I buy a part?
