After installing a BOSS UTV V snowplow on my 2012 825i gator, I noticed that the push beam cross member interfered with the front factory installed 2" receiver, located on the bottom of the bumper(welded).
My gator is equipped with a winch on a winch mounting plate(AM144131) that is designed to use the 2" receiver. Unlike a permanent front bumper mounted winch installation, the winch mounting plate allows the winch to be used both front and rear and be stored out of the harms way.(weather, etc) My winch wiring system on the gator, is design for front and rear winch operation.
This posed a dilemma. During non winter months it was easy to solve, remove the 10 bolts that hold push beam on and remove the push beam. However, the reality is, the winch could easily be required during winter. Making the removal of the push beam, less than desirable, as it could be an in field requirement in cold, snowy and/or night time conditions. Not to mention, the push beam would have to be reinstalled to then use the plow again.
I considered bolting a second receiver hitch to the top of the front bumper but decided I would talk with BOSS Snowplows. My thought was to see if BOSS was aware of the issue, did they have a solution and/or could they modify my push beam to accommodate the use of the winch mounting plate, without having to remove the push beam.
Happily I discovered, BOSS has a 2" receiver bracket that bolts to the push beam. :D
This was the second time I had reached out to BOSS, the first time was for a different issue but the result of both contacts with BOSS have been terrific! Truly a very responsive customer oriented company.
