I bought a Boss Utv 6.6 V plow for my 825i gator. Read and spoke to a number of people who recommend using ~300-400 lbs of weight in the rear of the machine to act as a counter weight. Suggstions included using bags wood pellets, sand, etc.
Because I shovel snow into the bed, I didn't want to clutter the bed with sand bags, etc.
I started hunting for a weight bracket that might work for this project and found a suitcase weight bracket from a JD 1050 and three suitcase weights.
I then contacted a vendor on E-bay who advertised a variety of trailer hitch mounting brackets. I made a detailed drawing of my proposed bracket and the vendor agree they could make the receiver bracket.
Here is the result. The JD 1050 weight bracket simply rests on a lip on the receiver hitch bracket and is then thru bolted(4), that assembly then slides into the receiver hitch and is pinned in place. In this case, the JD1050 weight bracket will accept eight of the 42lb. JD suitcase weights and the bracket assembly probably weighs ~ 60 lbs. (total weigh ~400 lbs.)
