Hi everyone, new to the forum and owning a gator.
Found a 2005 HPX 4x4 in pretty good shape.
Noticed a small leak at the bottom of the transaxle, maybe a drip or so every few hours. I know I can top off with Hy-guard in the mean time, but I am more worried about contamination.
I noticed someone must have broken one of the bolts on the bottom of the housing as they appeared to have applied JB weld in the bolt hole and along the transaxle seam to stop the leak.
So, I'm guessing to fix this properly I would have to split the transaxle, drill and tap a new bolt hole, and replace the seal. What kind of gasket or sealant should I use?
How much of a project is this going to be? Is there a temporary fix to get me through deer season then I can deal with it next spring?
Thanks.
