Hi All.
This is my first post on this forum. I'm a volunteer for the Texas Parks and Wildlife at Inks Lake State park. I work on most of their small equipment here for 5 months of the year and I'm having trouble with one of the Gators. Its a model, HPX DSL 4x4 DOM: 070110
History of problem:
When I got here about a month ago the park just picked up this gator from the local JD repair facility and spent 1200.00 to have the main wire harness and battery replaced. They told them there was a short somewhere in the harness. The gator ran fine for a few days then started dying all the time. It only dies when you run it with the headlights on for too long and it really dies fast when the cooling fan kicks on or if you try to dump the bed. It will idle forever and never die and I can run anything I want as much as I want. The problem is only while the accelerator pedal is pushed.
I have 12.6 volts at the new battery when not running and 13.8 when it is running. I have good voltage when the motor dies from the alternator and I have good voltage at the yellow wire for the fuel shut off solenoid when it dies. Could the fuse block with the built in modules be the problem? Could it have been damaged when the short happened? I'm lost on this one. Also I have pulled apart every connection on this gator and cleaned all the connections. Someone has to know whats going on with this thing.
Thanks.
