Electrical question new poster

Hi folks, I am new here.We purchased a used 2006 850 D 4x4 Gator this past spring. I have been using it here on the farm pretty regularly since but, lately it has had a few starting issues. If I turn the key to start, I get nothing. I should note that the starter has been rebuilt and worked well for awhile before this latest problem.

Now, if I touch a jumper wire from the battery to the starter solenoid control lead the thing turns over and if the switch is in the run position when I do this it will fire right up.

So, I thought the switch is bad and ordered anew one. However, with the new switch in I have the same issue. Now I am thinking that the wire from the switch to the solenoid must be broken someplace. Is this a logical assumption? Which terminal on the ignition switch should be the hot wire for the solenoid? I guess I can find that with a volt meter.... If this is a logical assumption then I guess it is also possible that the wire from the battery to the ignition switch could be where the trouble lies?

I do not have any manuals for this machine so, I was hoping that someone could point me in the right direction. Thank you in advance.
