Revised Snorkel...Again!

After revising my snorkel to bring clean air into both the engine intake and clutch with a "T", I revised it again. I was still getting way too much sand in my air filter. There was hardly any suction at the snorkel intake and I wasn't sure if the engine was pulling air through the clutch in reverse direction or elsewhere.

First, I eliminated the "T" and added a separate filter to the clutch intake. I used a K & N race car crankcase ventilator filter (part# 62-1470). I cutout the heat blanket that I had added in the cabin to allow pressurized cabin air to feed the filter with clean air. I also have a "curtain" between the cabin and box to minimize sand and dust being ingested into the clutch filter. I could feel the air being drawn into the clutch by placing my hand close to the filter. However, there still was hardly any suction at the snorkel end for the engine, even at higher rpm. I then sealed the engine intake filter housing, including the water drain hole, with silicon sealer. I can now really feel the suction at the snorkel intake. I haven't been out on the trail yet, but this should work much better. I don't go through deep water, just lots of sand and dust.

I've sent photos to John Deere, and have been trying to attach them to this post as well. However, they have failed to attach, so I have contacted the administrator to try to resolve the issue.
