As you know I picked up 3 Gator XUV diesels a few months ago. Had to put new clutches and electric fuel pumps on them. They run great now.
So yesterday I started working on the ripped boots on the front axle CV joints. Well, took off the wheels on one and popped the lower ball joints loose. While doing this I looked for the drive shaft that comes from the rear axle to drive the 4wd front axle. There was no drive shaft!!! After looking real close I realized that there was never a drive shaft. The areas where the drive shaft would of went thru some sheet metal was never cut out to make room for a drive shaft.
I guess I will save a bunch of money by not repairing the half shafts and CV joints now! :D Going to take the shaft out that couples the two CV joints and replace the lower ball joints on the A arms.
Never heard of a model with the complete 4X4 front axle assembly being made to be a 2 wheel drive from the factory, and I have 3 of them.
